Re: new member from texas

the 96-98 mustang GTs are horribly slow and low on power~ thankfully they are cheap to boost up. The stock numbers are 215/285~

Most with those year GT's swap over to the PI setup (aka the changes they did in 99 to boost the power to 260/300) this mainly includes the new revised heads/cams.

When all is said and done you will be around 285/3XX due to if you install it on your year 4.6 the compression ratio will go up some.

Thats probably one of the cheaper ways to boost power as you can get an entire engine for dirt cheap to swap over the parts you need from.

You can build the engine up if you wanted as well~ some have pushed 450 out of a N/A 4.6

thats pretty good to know, but what if im shooting for say 300-350 rwhp what would be the best mod set up? i am not mechanically incline so i can end up doing anything to the motor, just where to start gets me.

Re: new member from texas

without really putting some cash into the engine you wont see 350rwhp/tq without a power adder~

Re: new member from texas

dont worry about cams until you do if you do a head swap. You can stick money elsewhere and get better gains.I would start by adding a tuner, gears, exhaust, then go straight to a supercharger and a good custom tune. The pi head swap is a great upgrade and like mentioned before, you will raise your compression ratio a bit. The price will vary from 800 to 2000 on the pi head swap depending on what kind of deals you find on the parts. Comp cams makes some really nice cams (as do others) for the 4.6 and complimented with a set of degree gears you can see huge gains from them.
