Welcome to the party, glad you could make it.

Greetings! Welcome. I'm new, too. Newer. You joined way before I did; curious why you took a long time to post?

Since it's an introduction thread, why not become acquainted? I have been associated with Plant Maintenance for most of my life, now retired. How automated is that Tyson Plant? What sort of Maintenance work do you specialize in? Did you have to attend any training? Work with Programmable Controllers?

If not comfortable with my questions, I'll tell about me. Started with Dana Corporation in Chicago, where I grew up, in 1963. Worked in a Dynamometer Lab, testing cylinder head gaskets on big diesels and some gas engines. I was just 21, had been building hot cars for 6 or 7 years, and working in a place like that was like being in Heaven! Here is a pic of an experimental Caterpillar Double Overhead Cam Diesel we had on consignment. It was being developed for heavy duty OTR truck use.

Have a nephew in Lawrence, he lived quite awhile in Marion, years ago. Glad to have you here!

I think maybe because I made the profile, then slowly started modding & forgot about the world around me lol then came back. Was kind of rude of me so I corrected it. It is some what automated, but more in the material handling part. The rest is all harvest hard work, knife in one hand hook in the other. I started as a maintanence guy on the cut floor & been here for 15 years. Now I mostly just fabricate & weld. Anything from push carts to whole conveyors. I would take some pictures but too much risk of getting fired for that here lol. No training was required before getting hired, but a mechanical common sence test was given along with a few math tests. All training is provided & good chances to move up. Its not a carreer, but it pays the bills & its what also gave me confidence to slowly start working on my cars throughout the years. Lawrence was my place to go party in my younger years, great college town. Thanks for the welcome @65 k car
