Im new how's everyone doing?!

Hi everyone I'm new to this site.
I just bought a 1993 Ford Mustang 4cyl. 5spd. Lx notch-back.
This is my second car I'm going to restore.
My first car was a SATURN haha i got it from grandma, trying to keep it in the family. I restored the car from top to bottom, engine, interior, body, i made it a audio video show car.
Anyways i need help on my mustang i want to put in a v8, so if you people can point me in the right way on what i need to do that.
What my plans are for the engine i want to buy a ford crate engine, i know some good companies that sell crate engines from working at a restoration shop.
I don't really know too much on wiring an engines, but i plan on getting a engine like this here the web address Rebuilt Street and Strip Engines i was thinking of the 302 with 400hp.(something like that). It will be carb. what ever i get..
I need most of my help in the wiring an trans. part as for what i need an so on... thank you all take care an best wishes too all.

Re: Im new how's everyone doing?!

Something you'll need for a V8 Swap
V8 Engine
5.0 Transmission/Bellhousing
Bolts for the Bellhousing-Transmission
Headers
Mid-pipes
The Catback Exhaust
5.0 Motor mounts
Clutch
Flywheel
Flywheel Fastners
5.0 Starter
CAI or Stock intake
8.8' Rear end
5.0 Driveshaft
v8 Clutch Cable
v8 Clutch Quadrant
5.0 Radiator
5.0 Fan
5.0 Wiring Harness
5.0 Computer
v8 Crossmember

The V8 Engine (Of course)
5.0 Transmission/Bellhousing*
Bolts for the Bellhousing-Transmission
Headers
Mid-pipes
The Catback Exhaust
5.0 Motor mounts
Clutch
Flywheel
Flywheel Fastners
5.0 Starter
CAI or Stock intake
8.8' Rear end
5.0 Driveshaft
v8 Clutch Cable
v8 Clutch Quadrant
5.0 Radiator
5.0 Fan
5.0 Wiring Harness
5.0 Computer
v8 Crossmember
The 4 cyl. transmission will work although you will need to buy a bellhousing meant for the v8 along with a pilot bearing

Re: Im new how's everyone doing?!

Well i have a good parts list going now thanks.
That website is very helpful.
But some more odd question, haha just what you all what to hear right!!!??? Probably not, WIRING AN COMPUTER BULL****
I don't really want to get a donor 5.0 car...

Say if I went out an bought a carb crate engine,
screw the stock 5.0 engine.... because i would be dealing with fuel injection an computer bull**** right???.

(If i went carb would i still have to do a 5.0 wiring harness an 5.0 computer an all that good little bull**** too)???

Or should i just scratch out all the mustang wiring an call up painless wiring an tell them what im doing?????

Sorry people ill admit it im a tard when it comes to this stuff all i know is how to do body an paint work an im damn good at that!!

Thanks again
thats me now :suicide: getting there i want to enjoy my car first

Re: Im new how's everyone doing?!

thanks for the website man. you know that's a good question for me, i know FI you get better performance an the whole 9 yards with FI. Im not looking to make it a race car, i do plan on driving it an beating the **** out of it but not everyday.

Im looking at it this way i dont want to be taking the car to a mechanic if something happened to go wrong with the FI or a computer problem, witch it could be something simple or crazy.. A carb engine, if something went wrong it wouldnt be such a pain in the *** but **** happens all the time...
Thats a hard question to answer right but a very good one...

But im kinda old school even though im 21 but its like kiss (keep it simple stupid).

Re: Im new how's everyone doing?!

welcome man, good luck on the engine swap, there's alot to it but it's always worth it. I did a engine swap on a 79 F-150... took out the 351M engine out of it and threw in a bored and stroked 460.. it's a 557ci engine and it's a beast.. alot of work to do but so worth it in the end

The wiring really is not bad at all. All you need is an engine harness for the correct year for your car and the correct EEC (preferably an A9L). Some of the harnesses interchange between years, but you have to be careful. If I remember correctly, the 93's interchange with all other 93's and late year 92's. If you need me to verify this, let me know and I'll see if I can find it.

Really though, you're best bet for the swap is unfortunately... a donor car. It makes it so much easier when every little part you could possibly need is right there.
