This car is priced below STOCK book value. At this rate, I'll be parting it out soon.

I really wish i could... I've been saving up for a Mustang for a while (never had one yet) but last week (after 3.5 years of saving) my parents killed my plans once and for all, i even have the money

Re: 2002 Mustang GT - $8000

Car is still available. The number of people that think they'll be able to offer $6k for a car that books private party stock for $6600 (at the lowest condition) is astounding.

Re: 2002 Mustang GT - $8000

I have limited patience for it being for sale. Dismantling what I built would suck... but I would make more money off it if I did.

Mods add little to zero value in the used car market. I actually beat the dealer down a grand on my 95 that had 79k miles because it had CAI and exhaust. It's just the way it is and the way it's always been. The majority of ppl will not pay top dollar for modded car or motorcycle for that matter because the belief is that no matter how well maintained its been driven hard at some point because who mods out a car or bike and doesn't get on it right?

Re: 2002 Mustang GT - $8000

I understand that completely. However, I refuse to give away $4k+ worth of mods. They're appearance mods, it's not like they break down or anything. And... they're OEM Cobra parts. It would be ridiculous to just give them away. It has me strongly debating parting the car out, returning it to stock and dumping it for $5500 or something. I'll end up ahead of where I am now.

How much would you take for the hood if you decide to do that?

Do you HAVE to sell it? I've had personal experience trying to sell modded cars and you almost ALWAYS add nothing to resale. Appearance mods might make someone want it more but the never want to pay more. I've seen 2911 5.0 GT's supercharged with 25k + in mods and people trying to sell them BELOW blue book value :/

Your car is amazing and I can tell you really like it I would keep it if at all possible IMHO. It SUCKS to take apart something you love and sell it off for parts

I might could trade my OEM with a little benefit on your end, you'd have to repaint it, but I'll have to paint the termi hood too lol

Re: 2002 Mustang GT - $8000

Not much point in me trading mostly straight up to be honest. There's no desire for me to buy parts I need to paint and not really get ahead financially. That's not how a part out proceeds. I don't *have* to sell my car... but honestly I barely drive it. The worst part is... I'm getting some somewhat serious offers that are below my threshold lately. A couple of $6100... cash in hand. I really don't feel $6700 is a bad price... at all. And of course, they want everything and anything that looks like it might be able to go with the car.

I understand lol, that wouldn't really benefit a lot on your end. Just a thought since you said you'd need an oem one. And $6700 is more than fair, I wouldn't budge on that

Re: 2002 Mustang GT - $8000

I'm not. That's why I'm kind of stuck. Two guys... one offered $6100. The other is just above that. Both too low. I just want it sold. If it didn't need paint... it would be $8k easy

Best thing to do is to make them think they have some competition. If they really want it, they'll quit messing around and give you something you can work with.

+1 I notice car dealers do that, but it works.
