Just a heads up GT500 mounts only work with 05-09 struts.

I was just reading this on another thread. So now I'm confused a bit as there are different conflicting posts out there.

The GT500 strut mount will only work with the "shock" from an 05-09? Or if you have ford racing springs you can use the strut mount on any year through 2014?

If the strut mount will not work and the OEM one sucks, clunks and creaks what replacement options do we have?

Thanks in advance.

Strut mounts are only for the front so that has nothing to do with shocks. All shocks are the same from 05-14. In order to use the GT500 strut mounts they require struts for a 05-09.

The springs have nothing to do with this.

Thanks. What is the difference in the struts between the 09 and 14? Are the 09 struts compatible with the 14? Any upside or downside to using them? Or is there a better strut mount for the 09+ mustangs?

The 05-09 struts have a slightly taller thread. The GT500 mounts won't work with the 11-14 struts because they have a much smaller thread length and thicker neck and the GT500 uses the old strut style.

Yea like Joey said the difference is the thread. If ur going to change struts u can get 05-09 ones & use gt500 mounts but if u wanna keep ur oem struts or go with new 11+ struts u would have to use caster camber plates like the Maximum Motorsports,J&M or BBK ones.

Thanks everyone, I get the big picture here.

I lowered my car, had it aligned, new camber bolts, pan hard bar etc.. The driver side clunks over small bumps. Completely took it apart and put back together. The sound persist. I took it to the shop that aligned it and they said the strut mount was making the noise. They suggested a better mount like the one from the GT500. Not sure I am interested in changing the struts out just to get rid of the small sound.

Back to the drawing board. Big thanks to everyone for saving me a few $$ as I would have gotten a set and struggled for hours not understanding why it wouldn't fit...

Yea reusing the OEM strut mounts is known to make noise/clunk. If u wanna keep the OEM strut the only option u have is to get rid of the camber bolts & go with caster caber plates like the ones I suggested above. That or keep the noise/clunk.
