Oil Changes on supercharged motor

Hi all, got another question that probably has been asked already but couldn't find it by searching the forum. I am about to get my oil changed for the first time since I supercharged my motor a few weeks back and my question is what oil should I use or does it matter. The dealer is telling me to go synthetic either royal purple or the roush valvoline oil, is synthetic worth the money or not.

My car has Roush supercharger with Roush cold air and exhaust.

Thanks in advance to the advice

yes syn. is worth the money, if you do run your car hard every now an then. I say royal purple if you can afford it. next best thing is mobil 1, or AMSoil

that's kind of high.

Re: Oil Changes on supercharged motor

GM sells the same supercharger oil as ford does but for MUCH cheaper. If you can ensure its the same oil as used in your roush supercharger then your good to go. I know my M112 03 cobra supercharger's oil is the same as the stuff GM sells.

The oil should NOT cost you much at all. I can do mine for 20 bucks vs 80 from ford.

Re: Oil Changes on supercharged motor

The roush valvoline just sounds like another way for roush to tax a normally cheaper item.

Use mobil 1 full synthetic...it's what I've used since my first oil change at 500 miles.

$110 for an oil change defintiely sounds high. Should be around 60-70 for a full syn oil change.

Re: Oil Changes on supercharged motor

I use Motorcraft 5w20 and don't see why you would need anything else? I understand its personal preference but unless you have specific specs that require special oil then I would use Motorcraft or Mobil 1

Hey let me know what your place charges for synthetic oil change it would be interesting to see if there is a difference and how much, maybe I could talk my Ford dealer down some.

Re: Oil Changes on supercharged motor

when ever I ask for synth charge amounts its always double regular oil... when regular oil is only 2 bucks cheaper per bottle... thats 10 bucks more for oil not 40 more... but the dont pay what I pay for ford brand oil i guess~
