08 Bullitt supercharged?

I have an 08 bullitt and thinking about getting it supercharged and chip. Is the standard rear end and axle capable of handeling ~500 hp and ~450 torque? Also is it better to buy a supercharger that has its' own oil system or one that goes to the cars' oil pan?

Re: 08 Bullitt supercharged?

the rear will hold just fine. I say go with a roots style s/c. they have much better throttle response. I don't know of any roots style s/c that use engine oil.

I know centri. style s/c use engine oil, or their own. the only difference to me is ease of install.

OK. Now Shipping! Edelbrock E-Force Supercharger System for 2005-09 Ford Mustang GT
Is this worth $5,700 for ease of installation and quality?

Re: 08 Bullitt supercharged?

you have many options from a root style supercharger to a centrifugal (vortech for example) your engine will max out at about 450rwhp~ or so and that would be a bit pushing it. Stock you are at 260-280 (with the couple bullitt add ons, stock is 260) at the rear wheels~

vortech
tms (root style)
whipple (via ford racing)

and others you can look at and see which fits~ you can also do a single turbo for 5k~ and get more power overall

Re: 08 Bullitt supercharged?

Roush and Saleen run 8psi stock~ on their root blowers. Thats not to much overall~ I would NOT push it over 10psi

this is all subjective as the tune is THE MOST IMPORTANT PART it can NOT be an over the shelf can tune, it must be a custom tune done on the dyno to ensure correct settings, no way around it, ever.

I would aim for 400-425rwhp and be done, 400 if you want to make sure your save and no more than 8psi~ if you cant afford to break the car then done add a power adder to it, as it can happen at any time when you start doing these sorts of things. Its all in good quality parts, a great tune, and taking care of the car. That will help it last a very long time.

You could always sell it and buy an 03/04 cobra with 425hp stock, and an air filter/exhaust/tune away from 400rwhp+ and then put a smaller pulley to raise the boost from stock 8psi to 14 and push 475rwhp safe with room to grow (tons of room to grow)

Re: 08 Bullitt supercharged?

The installs that I have seen-made the separate coolant tank-seem like? the better install? Intercooled versus drilling a hole to the oil supply. I don't have any experience with turbos-but had great luck with two roots style superchargers I sure miss that horsepower and blower whine For now-those were my two Cobras-different chapter..

Re: 08 Bullitt supercharged?

I'll have to agree on the roots/twin screw style blower. Nothing like instant torque when you want it. They should all be internally oiled.

Also, don't skimp out on the cooling system, superchargers and turbochargers both build extreme amounts of heat that will rob power if not properly overcome.

Also, as Spector stated...do not skimp out on a tune. If nothing else spend a little more than you were expecting if you know the shop will do it right. I will pay more for a tune that I know won't cause my engine to destroy itself, it's still cheaper than a new engine.

Re: 08 Bullitt supercharged?

I have an 09 bullitt and I called Roush about a supercharger they say it won't clear the strut tower brace but I think Edelbrocks does.

Re: 08 Bullitt supercharged?

yea it probably wont, that little brace really doesnt do anything so you could remove it if you had to.

Another road to consider if you want the most power is a single turbo from Helion (best kits on the market that I have seen) they will run you about 5-6k then add in a custom dyno tune (as you should with any power adder) and you will make MORE hp and tq with LESS boost by FAR.

Roush is nice but WAY WAY WAY over priced... go whipple before you blow the massive amount of cash on the roush blower. A whipple or kenny bell is FAR better.

Re: 08 Bullitt supercharged?

Deff dont get a centifrical supercharger, i have a procharger and its anoying that i make the boost ONLY on higher rpms. a Roots style gives you the feel of the power with low end torque.
I have heard good things about the techco and saleen as well.

Re: 08 Bullitt supercharged?

"Old School" doods call them "weiner whistles"-as everything used to be normally aspirated-to make hp..:

Re: 08 Bullitt supercharged?

i live rite next to the techo building, got their CAI its awesome. just a little out of my price range at 7k... id look for a 475hp saleen very easy clean install. all you would need is a premade tune to put on.

Check out JDM, they are running a special on the Roush/TVS charger and clutch upgrade. They also carry the E-Force. If your interested in a Turbo set up, I have a Turbonetics kit for sale, it made 452rwhp and has less then 1000 miles on it. Moved up to a built motor and the Techco 3.0SC.
