Expirement with the limit

I am about to push the limit on the Stang this weekend increasing the boost to 14-15 lbs on a completely stock, KB blown 05 Stang. Doesn't matter what happens cause I am in the works for a complete rebuild or New built engine. I'll have first hand knowledge of what exactly will happen and just how far can I push it. I have 12,000 miles on the blower with 10 lbs boost right now (39,000 on the car). I'll let you know when or if this thing blows up, breaks, or maybe even function at this level. I drive 30 miles each way to work so I have plenty of opportunity to have at least a little fun.

Well-if you are pushing the 39 thousander-to implode like a hand grenade-it will
What about the future built motor? What are you building to 'replace' the 3 valve?

Re: Expirement with the limit

replace it with a s/c'ed 5.4 4v....

so your going to test this out on the way to work? i'm guessing your just going to miss a day at some random time, or your going to come home really late?

at least you might set the bar a little higher for everyone's stock fi applications.
what kinda power are you gettin right now with the 10 lbs?

Re: Expirement with the limit

I'm at 470 to the wheels now. AAA works OK for me. I'll just take my truck to work for a month or so. I thought about a 5.4 but am sticking with a built 3v for now. Too much BS for a 5.4 swap.

it wont last, its been seen time and time again, sure it will run for a while but it wont hold up for very long. You could sell the engine and make some money before you blow it up though lol

Re: Expirement with the limit

Local car ran 15 lbs with a saleen blower for a couple years with no issues. The only thing that broke was the tensioner arm over and over again. The kids can't drive for **** either and hit the rev limiter many times over. If it's tuned well, you could be fine for a while and may be shocked how long it will last.

Re: Expirement with the limit

tensioner should be OK ..I got the heavy duty from KB as far as the 15 lbs I don't drive it like I am at the Drag Strip ...although I do get on it once in a while. I was told when I went to 10 lbs that my car wouldn't last either....that's another reason I am doing this before the swap. Thanks for the replies.

Atleast get a track pass on 18. You never know, might set a record... or blow up.

Re: Expirement with the limit

Couldn't wait for saturday so I had it done today. Went right to work and then came home and as I am not easily impressed, Stang ran nice and strong but I am not satisfied yet, so I'll have to wait for the bottom end to be done so I can realy put the juice to it.

Re: Expirement with the limit

OK it's been 2 days since the pulley swap...the first day I didn't really get on it but I did the second day. Everything worked OK, Didn't fall apart. I guess I can contribute that to the stock Wheels and tires and KB's tune. Don't know what HP was added but my previous was 470 to the wheels with 10 lbs boost. New pulley is 1/4 inch smaller wich equates to around 4 - 5 lbs more boost. Took a couple of people for a ride, by the time I got back they had to change their shorts. But it is no where where I want it yet for a DD. BTW has anyone her heard or have any experience with the new KB throttle body?

Re: Expirement with the limit

If your talking about the new monoblade. I know 2 guys on other sites that had them and had problems with them. they both got the ford racing cobrajet TBs and made more power and it comes with a new TPS and throttle motor already installed

Re: Expirement with the limit

Yeah ...my speed shop says that KB had problems at first but have the bugs worked out now and their supposed to work excellent. Just want some more feedback from someone who has one now. Thanks for the info.
