05. the 05s, IMO are uglier, but they are not a 25yr old chassis and frame. They have a better suspension, brakes, new type of engine, etc.

if you have the chance, get an 05 GT, manual please

Then immediately get an SCT tuner and get rid of the shift hangs, and transmission longevity tuning lol

being able to hop into third is a cool feeling indeed

Oh and get the dark red with bullitt wheels

you know you want to

it'll be a decent endevour to make up the 40 horsepower difference from 04 to 05.. and the 05 STARTS at 300... you don't have to build to that point.. so from a mere starting point standpoint, the 05 wins.... I'm with some guys here in that I think the 04 is nicer looking than that 05... but it's not like the 05 is dog ugly... (no offense to anyone's dog). Plus, chicks will probably dig an 05 more than the 04... even though that shouldn't influence you at all.... it's gonna come down to which one you like more...

My personal opinion is the 05 has too many new things on it, if I get one it will be an 06. A dealer told me the other day if you order one now you won't get it til the 06 are coming off the line anyhow. The only way you can get one is to special order it at this point, demand is too high, what the hey, at least you will get it the color you want and equipped the way you want it.

the 2005s are by far a better car, but the price is of course higher... so you just have to decide which way you want to go.

If I decided to get one I would probably go with the darker red of blue. I love black, but such a chore to keep looking good. Would still want black top and dark charcoal interior, with the brushed aluminum dash package. I am not big on subwoofers and such, so I would probably not go with the more expensive stereo package, bullitt type wheels most likely, still think they look good. Don't like the width of the wheels or the size of tire that comes on them now though. Still thinking on things, lol. Definitely leather interior again though.

i dont know which one i would go with, the diffrence in price is hugh, im sure u can still find some 04s out there new. i would prolly just go with that, they have to by dying to get them off the lots. and with the money you save you could build alot of hp.

i just bought my 02 gt in december w/ 23,700 miles on it for $13,995 verses approx. $25,000 for the 05. Price wise the 99+ will be a lot cheaper and w/ the extra cash you save, you can slap on a supercharger or stroke the engine and blow the 05's out of the water. Don't get me wrong I would love to have an 05 but it is the first year of a brand new car, so recalls would be very probable

If you are considering an 04 GT, get an 04 cobra. You probably won't find one new, but by golly there will be a lot of them available next year once the 07 comes out. You will prolly find one modded for about what a new 04 will run you. You can probably find one for the cost of a GT now.

Other than that, I would say wait till 06 and get an 06 mustang. Let the new platform iron out the bugs first and get a second year version.

So, 03/04 cobra first...06 GT second...and 04 GT third is my opinion.

well, i plan on either trading in the gt for an '03 or '04 Cobra and modding the crap outta of it. i would like to get a GT500, but i bet there 45000 plus, i haven't found a price for one yet, if they were even released. BUT, if you want a GT, i would go with an '05 if you want more power ASAP, but if you want looks, good power, and much cheaper, i'd go with an '04 personally, body looks better, so many more mods right now, and no bugs or problems, from what i know. for the price of an 05 Gt, you could buy an 04 and put mods into it for the price of the 05 and be as fast or faster.

For the price of an 05 GT you can buy an 03/04 cobra right now...and some already come with goodies like a kb or whipple...and the mods to "mod the hell out of it" will only run you about 2-3k if you ended up with a stock one. I know of many 03/04s for sale as we speak...some modded some not...and they are running about 25-30k right now.

^^ ya i just meant by if he wants and can only afford a GT, i would buy an 03-04 cobra if i could right now, can't afford it right now. im debating on supercharging the gt or getting an 03-04 cobra, leaning towards a cobra right now. but ya, i only said that if he wants an 04 gt, if he wants an 05, i would get an 03-04 cobra what i meant to say.

05 GT is a much better car all the way around. if money isn't a factor, go for the 05 vs 04 GT.

I can vouch for that. When I decided I wanted one all I could find in town was a Black 05' with the porno red leather interior. Ugliest thing I have seen since the red leather in the vette.

so I placed my order over a week ago, but I have about 5 more weeks to wait, minimum. As he said, all you can order is an 06'.

I think my advice is obvious. The 05'/06'. The main consideration in buying a used Mustang is how the previous owner treated it. did he break it in properly? Was it raced a lot? When were the oil changes done?

When buying a Mustang or Camaro, cars that are notoriously flogged, I would always say buy new. If buying used buy from someone you have known since they got it so you know how the car has been treated.

Other than that I think the new ones are a lot better looking and handle better. If all you want to do is go fast in a straight line, then get an 03/04 Cobra.

I am honestly mixed about this. I am not a big fan of the 05 body style as it is right now but I am starting to like it more. I would however if money was not a object buy a 04 Cobra and then trade it in on a 07 Gt500 Cobra which I think is a bad *** looking car

I'm a fan of picking up a car that's a few years old and you can get it for half of the price it was new. Then you have plenty of money to modify it and bring it up to an acceptable power level

Re: 2004 Vs 2005 Gt

I had a 2000 mustang and now have a 2005 GT. the difference is night and day. more room on the inside better style better handling and more horse power. The car is bigger and weighs more but it has so much potential to go back to the old retro looks.. I love mine!!

I don't own a GT but man the 05 & 06's are hot!!! dont care for the 06 pony package. I don't know how anyone could think a 94+ could look any better? I never even like the 94 -98 and I didn't care for how they just squared off the 99 -04's. The inside of them are a little tacky in my opinion, a lil plain but they are lighter in weight. Then again thats why the 05's are more HP too. Plus if you got any type of love for the 68's and the years around there which are the classics then there is no reason why you shouldn't like them. I love they way my V6 handles so I know the GT has to be a dream!! Plus all the looks you'll get can't be replaced by just having an 04. Most likly all the people that don't like the new mustangs now are gunna love em & want one later and most likly have one!!! I mean If I just bought on 2000 - 2004 I wouldn't be trying to look at the new 05's and see anything positive about it. I mean I wouldn't want to take a close look at it just cause deep down you know the new look is hot. I mean when you see a normal mustang like you guys everyone and there mothers have them so it ain't nothing special. I know this don't really matter but take girls for an example. A girl will see a 98 mustang at a light and think huh mustang, then she'll see a 2004 and still say "huh nothing new" then the 05 & 06 come up and she double takes it. You the first look and the car the second or visversa lol. My point being the old mustangs are boring. Soak this new body style up before it gets played out like the 94's and up. ( they need a whole new body style after 07) Like most of you on this forum lol it cracks me up cause ether way they will grow on you and you all will want an 05 or 07 just like you wanted the 03 or 96 or what the heck ever year cause most of you respect the mustangs from the 1968 era. The air vents are very classic. The AC in older mustangs used to be a big box under the dash and it had the similar circle air vent in that box that the 05's have built in the dash today. Same with the F-150's. The way the numbers are written on the speedometer will just remind you of the old mustangs.I look at people driving the 04's like dam they got screwed lol. I mean I would be pissed if I bought an 04 and then the next year they toss out a new HOT retro body style for the 05's.

I would definetly choose an 05 or 06 like dude said most of the bugs will be worked out but at least do me and yourself a favor and at least test drive an 05 or 06 Gt before getting what your girls mom has lol. ( everyone's got an 96 or 03.

I am in no way dogging or trying to disrespect the 94's and up in now way. Just stating my opinion.

Re: 2004 Vs 2005 Gt

I dunno....I drove the first 05 GT 5 spd to hit Mississippi. It was ok...but didn't impress me. The looks still don't get me, just not as aggressive and mean looking as the 99-04 IMO. But...it's all about opinions.

I think you may be talking about the 05+ interior, but if you're talking about 99-04 vs 94-98 interior, they're the same...
