Question about mid pipes

Hello everyone I am looking for some advice on mid pipes.

From what I have researched there is an H pipe and X pipe and a Tru-X pipe and straight pipes.

Most of the rides I see modded are using X pipes. Is there more performance gain from X than straight pipes?

My friends are recommending straight pipes and im not so certain.

Thanks for any help

Re: Question about mid pipes

Straight pipes are not a midpipe but muffler deletes. SLP LM are the most common example. Exhaust shops can also fabricate muffler deletes. Mid pipes are X, H and Prochamber. You may gain a little hp/tq with a X pipe but they may or may not sound as good as the H or prochamber. That will come down to not only opinion but what mufflers you are running.

Re: Question about mid pipes

Straight pipes are two single exhaust ports that run to the back of the car. For GT (4.6L V8 engines) owners it is recommended to go with an H-pipe since it will sound better. The H pipe will make the exhaust sound a bit raspy when you get into higher RPMs. You'll gain maybe a few HP with any, but the differences in HP between any of the different mid lengths is not a big gap.

Re: Question about mid pipes

I would go with a H pipe myself unless you like raspy then do a X.Prochambers sound like the voices of angels from heaven.
