Mutha Thumper cams

ok thanks for everyone's help and im keeping my car. mutha thumper cams are going in my car in jan.i just ordered my c&l racer cai yesterday and getting rid of my bbk cai so if anyone wants it,its for sale. just wanted to get everyone's input on me adding the mutha thumpers, delete plates, and c&l racer intake in jan. someone told my instead of buying delete plates just take the butterflies out of my stock one. what do you think about that? also, how much rwhp and rwtq do you think i will be putting out with all my mods? c&l racer cai, kooks LT headers, off road x-pipe,borla stinger mufflers,3.73 gears, mutha thumper cams, custom tune, and delete plates. my car is a 5sp manual. i think thats all i have lol.

Re: Mutha Thumper cams

If dyno tune I would guess 360 RWHP.....I know of a car with the same mods and this is what he is putting down with a tune from M.M.

Re: Mutha Thumper cams

yea i will be getting it dyno tuned. that sounds pretty good im hoping for 375. i want to hit the 400rwhp and 400rwtq mark all motor and i think i will leave it alone after that til its paid off(will try very hard lol). then the motor will come out and will put a balanced and blue printed motor in with all forged internals. so does anyone else know what else i need to do for me to hit that mark?

Re: Mutha Thumper cams

What will you have to do to install those cams? Will you need to change the valve springs and other components? Reason I'm asking is that Comp Cams makes some cams that give a good loping idle, add 60 horses and work with the factory hardware. With everything that you've done so far, I don't know of anything else you could bolt on to hit 400 horses without changing the heads.

Re: Mutha Thumper cams

yea the stage 2 mutha thumpers just require cam phaser limiters. you dont have to change anything else and the idle is very rough. i think only one more thing i can do without doing heads, it would be changing the intake manifold to a C&L it might be close to 400 mark then but idk. if not, then i tried and i will just wait til its paid off in 2 years or so then new motor is going in with no cutting corners the best of everything.

Re: Mutha Thumper cams

I just saw that the cams you were talking about were Comp Cams. Sorry. I can't keep track of all of the toys out there for our cars...

Re: Mutha Thumper cams

go with the Ford hot rod cams. they tune better than the mutha thumpers and don't require fazor lockouts.

Re: Mutha Thumper cams

hot rod cams cost about $800.

and sound awesome.

as for delete plates. you can make your own by removing the butterflies, but you will also need to weld up the holes from the shafts. I would just buy delete plates.

Re: Mutha Thumper cams

do they sound better than the mutha thumpers? where can i get them at? brenspeed has the mutha thumpers for 645 but the cam phasers are like 180 so im looking at 823 by the time i throw them in.

I can get you a set of the mutha thumpers and limiters for $650 pm me if interested or you can call total performance solutions ( wes or benji ) and tell them you want beau's cams . I picked these up from a friend a few weeks back but I will be installing stage 3 spr cams instead because they will work better with my stroker/ported setup .

I think the hot rod cams sound way better than the mutha thumpers but the M.T. will give more HP gain.As far as a easy tune with the H.R. cams......a guy in our club with a 06 GT had tuning nightmares with the H.R. cams.I know every car is different and in the end he was very happy, but not so happy with his dyno day #'s.

Re: Mutha Thumper cams

360rwhp seems very high considering with cai/exhaust/pulleys/tune you generally see 300-320 so not sure I would expect 40-60rwhp from cams alone~ but who knows have to try and see.

Its possible he wont see that but I know someone with the same setup and he achieved 360 with help from Murillo Motorsports. That would be a great # IMO.

Re: Mutha Thumper cams

keep in mind, every dyno reads different, some high some low, none are 100% accurate.

DDTCM- `Very nice idle lope. Really raspy exhaust note at higher r.p.m. (I realize that the exhaust note is of an individual preference...)

i have the same mods, i used the nsr comp 127200 cams they picked up 38 hp. i'm makin 340 through an auto, you should make 350. you will need heads to get close to 400hp.
ps. i also have uderdrive pulleys, u should get a set. i lost 3 mpg with my gears and what have ya and gained 2 mpg back with the underdrives.
