Re: rpmoutlet...

Yes, I bought my exhaust system from them back in 06. They sent the right exhaust, but the receipt and packaging info was for exhaust for a 2005 Ram Pickup. I'm guessing the guy with the Ram got my shipping info as well. That's the only time I bought anything from them.

I have heard of worse things though. Orders never being shipped out, long *** shipping time, poor customer service, etc.

I personally would stay away from them. I'd look into American Muscle, Stangmods or some of the other site sponsors.

Re: rpmoutlet...

I checked some other sites like Lethal Performance and didn't see them any cheaper. I found 96-04 SLP catted x-pipes for 309.99 at LateModelRestoration, that's why I asked which year. Let me keep looking...

Here's an SLP catted x-pipe for the 05+ GT for 332.96 with free shipping. I haven't bought through them, nor have I heard anything about them.

Re: rpmoutlet...

Avoid RPMOuthouse like the plague. Yeah, their price looks good however you are not guaranteed to get all the parts needed to install it...or you may not get the same part you ordered...or any number of other unwanted options.

Check out ninosport.com, americanmuscle.com, atomicperformance.com to name a few other sources. Atomic has a discount code (evolution) to save $10 and they have free shipping.

Just because the price looks good, it's not worth the probably headache that is to come.

^^^Much agreed, basically, you get what you pay for. You may save $100, but with that savings you get massive headaches, paranoia, and the need to punch 10 small children in the face.

No problem, glad we could help. If you really want the SLP catted x-pipe and price is a real concern, I'd look into LMPerformance or Mustang Parts Outlet: those are the two places I found the x-pipe the cheapest other than RPM Outlet.

Maybe PM one of the admins/staff like Purevenom or SpectorV about one of those places, they might have heard positive or negative things about them.

Good luck, any more questions, don't hesitate to ask

Re: rpmoutlet...

I have their exhaust on my car. I like it, install wasn't a breeze, but that's common with their systems on the 99-04 v6's. I see Pypes mid pipes used on a ton of 05+ cars...the mid pipes must be a good bang for the buck item. I haven't heard too much about the full systems for the 05+.

There are plenty of brands out there, Pypes, Borla, Magnaflow, etc.

Re: rpmoutlet...

Yah with the 05+ you really can't go wrong. Most of the systems sound pretty good on the 3v v8's, and they offer a decent amount of performance. From what I've heard, combining the exhaust with a CAI and a good tune will net you some considerable hp, bolt on wise.

Re: rpmoutlet...

I've always been partial to longtubes. They add a deeper tone to the v8s. Same with the h-pipes. The x-pipes give off more of a raspy tone, while the h-pipes give off a deeper tone. I've always like the deeper tone on the v8's. I don't know too much about the 05 stuff, since I have an 03. What I can tell you is only what I've heard. The best advice will probably come from the 05+ owners.

Ford Racing makes a good catback, it's made by Borla but stamped as Ford Racing making it cheaper. Pypes sound pretty good, Magnaflow, JBA, Bassani, Corsa all make axle backs and and catbacks. As far as headers, there's Pypes, JBA, BBK, Ford Racing, SLP...these come in different finishes: chrome, ceramic, coated, polished.

It really comes down to a personal preference. Personally, I don't like SLP mufflers on Mustangs. I think they belong only on GM's, but that's just me.

Re: rpmoutlet...

Remember:"the least expensive part, does not necessarily represent the best value".. Go to one of the recommended Sponsor Vendors, and get excellent service, at a slightly higher price. If you have ANY problem(s), they will handle everything expeditiously and fairly. I had the SLP axleback setup on my `03 MaCh1-With the 32 valve engine they sounded pretty tough. I wouldn't favor that exhaust note on the 3 valve S197-you decide, though.

going cheap can mean spending twice as much and much longer to get the job done, keep that in mind
