okay been reading though this forum and many others trying to catch up on all this new technology (The last time i worked on a real motor was 1981. meh)
So i've few questions for ya'll.
It seems a new CAI and tuner is a must.
1) I was thinking of going with a Steeda CAI and SCT SF3 Tuner?
2) Is a new throttle body worth it?
3) The exhaust - this is a biggie for me, I want to get close to that old school "RUMBLE" at idle without waking every living soul within 5 miles when i come home late or so loud i can't hear my self think while driving daily. suggestions?
I've some more questions on lowering and handling but those can wait til after i get this first round done.
i hear cai and tune is pretty helpful for the s197 throttle body i would wait till you have more mods like cams or sumthing. Best way to go about exhaust is to go to youtube and watch clips. It won't give you the EXACT sound but give ya an idea of the tone. If you don't get checked for emissions I'd look into an off road mid pipe as well.
well ordering my SCT X-Cal 3 tuner, C&L CAI and going with the Flowmasters axle backs for now, we'll see how those work out.
As for the gears, the original owner was nice enough to order the car with the 3.55 rear, so keeping those as is.
One thing with the flowmasters. Being an axle back the mufflers are directly behind the exhaust tip. When you wash your car if you spray any water in the exhaust it gets reaped in the muffler and it will rust out and rattle like hell.
