You won't see hardly any real gains from it. It's basically appearance only.

Re: cdc shaker hood....????

Ya I would imagine the gains being minimal with those shaker hoods...I know it is on the 99-04 models. You may see slightly more gains after a tune, since the S917's are way more sensitive to alterations in air and fuel. A good tune might squeeze out some extra power, but don't qoute me on it.

+1. Youre probably seeing better power from the cai anyway. There are so many other mods you could do for the price of one of those.

Re: cdc shaker hood....????

no gains, just looks... same as the Mach 1... doesnt work like the old carb engines with a more direct shot into the intake.

Depressing. I was hoping it'd be worth the price of admission as I love the look. But I don't love it that much if there's no roi.

Yah I remember riding/driving an 04 mach 1...the scoop would shake when you revved it and when you accelerated...that 4v was too smooth at idle to shake the shaker though.

Re: cdc shaker hood....????

Yah it'd just pull to one side a tad when you accelerated or revved and then settled back in the center position...nothing like the oldies, but still cool.

Re: cdc shaker hood....????

I put a Shaker on my 05 GT 4 years ago and I really like the look, I don't honestly believe that there is any great performance improvement, but dumping cold air into your intake is always a good thing and certianly can't hurt.

Re: cdc shaker hood....????

they basically seem to be the same thing as ram air which from everything I've seen really doesnt give you that much gains unless you are at higher speeds, since the whole idea behind it is to use your speed to force in air, they are basically use the same idea as a super charger just with less mechanics and less money, not nearly in the same area of gains though.

I will have to call BS on that one. Just saying. Maybe and I mean maybe if u got a bigger throttle body and different intake for more air flow.

Re: cdc shaker hood....????

I was sayin that it was BS lol...for example tho if you go to Cervini's website they make some gaurantees like that...I could see at really high speeds it beeing possible tho thats a lot of air flying right into your engine, plus if they funnel it correctly you could increase the pressure significantly at the point where the intake reaches the engine. For ex. normal atmospheric pressure is about 14.7psi I believe so air flowing into a 45 square inch opening funneled to a 4 inch diameter with a constant flow would make 52psi in theory, but obviously you cannot go that high because some of the air will escape back out at the entrance, since it has lower pressure than 52 psi, basically what I'm sayin is at some point a RAM air intake will outperform a CAI, but still HP difference is not worth paying 10x as much.

Ram air would certainly increase the air flow by forcing it down the throat of a TB or carb. But in this product's case, nope - not happening. Note the air dumps into a segregated area for the CAI - not an air-tight connection to the TB.

huh i didn't know that about shakers, they just seem extremely design flawed then.

Not really flawed - just not designed as a ram. Does feed cold air which might help a bit. Lets face it, people buy it for the looks, certainly not for function.
