Best cold air intake

I have a 06 V6 and I am planning on doing some basic upgrades. I was looking at 1st installing a cold air intake. After doing a little bit of shopping for one I think i have narrowed it down to two. The Cold air kit that Steeda perforamance parts has or the K&N Typhoon Kit. Which is better? or is there one that i missed while shopping that is better than both of these?

Re: Best cold air intake

i have done lots of research b4 i bought mine and found that all of them are pretty much the same. People say the metal ones arent as good as the plastic ones bcuz the air will get heated up from the engine. This is not true bcuz the air doesnt stay in the tube long enough to change temperature. the only thing that could possibly make a difference is how many turns the tube makes bcuz it will restrict airflow a bit, but not much. After all of my research i went with a bbk bcuz it is metal and just looks bad *** when its polished up. and dont think you will be getting a major boost of anything by putting one in. You will hear a cool sucking/woosh noise when your on the gas and a little better throttle response but not much hp gain. also, i have a 03' v6 auto.

I have had a plastic Densecharger and a MAC CAI. There was no difference. ZERO. Now I traded my Densecharger for my MAC but I will tell you the quality of the internet ones is just as good for 1/3 the price. You just need to look for the right ones on Ebay. There are people here who can tell you which ones to get and the ones to look out for.

Thats what i was sayin, there all basically the same, its just a matter of which one looks cooler in your opinion.

this would be one to stay away from. you will definitly be able to find one cheaper than this, and dont believe the "Expect to get 15-20 hp from the great Intake Kit!!!" bs bcuz you will not be getting even close to that.eBay Motors: 05,06,07 Ford Mustang V6 S&B Cold Air Intake Kit 20+HP (item 260020841351 end time Aug-21-06 17:02:02 PDT)

I dunno. I'd still be a little wary of the eBay ones. Just make sure you buy from a seller that you've heard has a good quality kit. I had a buddy that bought one for his 01 V6 and it was junk. The fit was horrible. The damn thing was nearly impossible to get in. The rubber grommet they supplied to plug the little nitrous bung thing was too small. Just be careful what you buy.

Re: Best cold air intake

whats with the tunableinduction obsession?

btw, even though its an old thread, C&L CAI with SCT xcal2 or Diablosport tuner is the best setup for the S197's...

Re: Best cold air intake

I those the C&L cold air intake for my 2007 Mustang GT. The Diablosport Predator programmer and this intake seem to go well together. Also with the Predator I tuned my Mustang for premium fuel.

Re: Best cold air intake

Ive researched the hell out of this and came to the conclusion there is a only a minor difference in all of them (just my opinion, guys) I went with the options racing with k & n air filter... Works great and was cheap... Real fking tight fit tho!
