If he has the money, borla's are the way to go. He may also look into a new mid-pipe if he has the money.

His best bet is to check exhaust vids on youtube. They have so many options out there it is hard to chose.

Re: exhaust

I would say the FRPP axle backs. They are basically Borla mufflers stamped with the Ford Racing brand so they're a little bit cheaper than actual Borlas. They give a nice exhaust note and are easy to install.

There a tons of options for the 05-09 GT's. American Muscle has a bunch of brands and setups, plus free shipping!

Re: exhaust

There are countless set-ups. Asking what's the best sounding exhaust is like who is the best looking Playboy model of all time. Also what ever exhaust set-up he chooses I can guarantee will not be his last.

this is true, lol...yah you could start with flowmasters, get tired of them and switch to magnaflows, then say **** them and go with borlas, and that's just the mufflers...then there's headers and midpipe options.

Best part is they will all sound good on the v8.

Re: exhaust

axle backs work rather good on 05+ just not as much of a difference in sound or performance compared to 94-04 for example.

You can either do axle backs or just run a straight pipe with no muffler. They make kits for it. I normally wouldnt say that, but a friend has this done to her 05 and its not bad at all.

Re: exhaust

Wayne, there is a lot of personal preference surrounding exhaust on a S197. I have tried three combinations:
1. Stock – nice sound be lacking pizzazz
2. FRPP GTA axle backs – a little louder than stock with NO drone – meets with wife approval
3. Magnaflow Magnapacks with American Racing Long Tube Headers, catted X-Pipe and 3” Magnaflow exhaust – this set up has lots of pizzazz, drones from 1500 to 2000 RMP and clearly does not meet with wife approval. But I love it!
