new clutch for supercharger

I am saving up to buy the Steeda carb legal supercharger and was wondering if I need to buy a new clutch for it as well. The car only has 500 miles on it and I have babied it since I bought it 2 weeks ago, so the clutch is still in perfect condition. If I should be buying a new clutch, what are some recommended ones. Thanks in advance for any input.
Cheers
Kenny

Re: new clutch for supercharger

If you just want to do the clutch now you can, but the factory clutch will hold for awhile. I say there is "Spec" and then there is everyone else. Do the stage 3+ now that way you have the best and never have to upgrade later. Also got the flywheel with the replaceable friction plate. That way you can just change the plate later and not the whole flywheel.

Re: new clutch for supercharger

Depending on now much HP you plan to make I would recommend the McLeod RST or SXT. I currently have a spec stage 3+ with spec aluminum flywheel and am regretting not getting the McLeod. The spec is a great clutch to hold the HP (I'm making 465 at the wheels) but it is not very smooth when it engages and when you try to slip it you have to find just the right (sweet) spot or it chatters like crazy. Everybody I talked to told me the McLeod is really smooth.

Looking to make around 430hp. Mcleod, huh...will have to look into them. I had clutch chatter on my 04 srt-4. Took some getting use to, but I can agree with you...it did get annoying after a while.

Cheers

Re: new clutch for supercharger

So I've taken a look at Mcleod's website. Just not sure which clutch kit would be good to get for the hp I am looking to make.
