Is there any diffrence in CAI's?

A little help please.
All advertising hype aside I have been looking at several CAI's.
Ford Racing CAI
C&L CAI
Steeda CAI
Married with a good tuner is there really any significant performance difference in these different manufactures where the rubber meets the road?
Thanks for your time and thoughts

I orderd a set of FRPP 4:10's today now a good chip and CAI right?

Re: Is there any diffrence in CAI's?

my friend did a TON of research and found out the JLT or C&L Race had some of the best gains, he liked the C&L Race so he went with it.

for tune go with americanmuscle.com and get bamachips tunes for life as they write some of the BEST tunes for 05+ just get a dyno before/after and you can see the really good gains and check for a lean condition their tunes sometimes cause (not super unsafe or anything but you can make a tad more power if you rich it up a tiny bit)

They usually have the SCT Xcal 3 tuners or what ever the new style is, no chip needed and you can do all kind of cool things with the tuner.

Tuner is 400 bucks not sure how they do the tunes on them but they are worth it from bamachips

Yes buy from American Muscle and get Bama tunes for life. The Bama race tune is awesome! American Muscle does not sell the C&L though. Also pick up the sctx3 for sure. You will get the most gains from C&L or JLT.

Huh?

C&L Racer Cold Air Intake and SCT SF3 Tuner Combo (05-09 GT) at AmericanMuscle.com - Free Shipping!

I'm in the same boat trying to figure out who's doing the best job. I really dig the look of the FRP cai, but would pass if I saw data that said it sucked - or sucked less air.

Looks like I might have to go JLT.

Re: Is there any diffrence in CAI's?

Guess I was wrong. Never bought a CAI from AM. My C&L and sctx3 came straight from Bamachips. On another note the FRPP cai is probably the best looking but is weak compared th C&L and JLT.

Re: Is there any diffrence in CAI's?

I think you are right because I don't remember C&L's being on there. But the good thing is that Bama's original customers are getting free tunes also.

Re: Is there any diffrence in CAI's?

I have a C&L Race intake and love it. I easy way to look at it is, if the CAI doesn't require a tune than it isn't worth it.

In reading the results I was disappointed in the results of the frpp cai. Leaning towards the C&L as the JLT's flimsy airbox has got me a little gun-shy.

Re: Is there any diffrence in CAI's?

C&L race seems to be a hot ticket recently, that and a good bamachips tune will net 20 to 25+

Re: Is there any diffrence in CAI's?

ALL CAI's are the same. The power is in the tune. I defy anyone here with a stock GT to put down more power then my car with a tune by Chris Rose and a FRPP bullit cai.. 289 hp/310 torque

Re: Is there any diffrence in CAI's?

I just installed the JLT two weeks ago from a K&N and I am impressed with the results so far. The C&L would be my 2nd choice.

Re: Is there any diffrence in CAI's?

whats so funny? Im making a point to prove the cai is not where you make the hp from. I'm saying you buy what you like(don't get too hung up on a C&L) and make the power with the tune. Is that hard for you to comprehend?

Re: Is there any diffrence in CAI's?

If all CAI are the same then why would 5.0 mag waste their time and resources to compare and then do a article on what CAI is the best which happened to C&L and JLT.?

Re: Is there any diffrence in CAI's?

for the same reason every magazine do comparo tests. To sell advertising space Like I said. Show me any stock S197 with a C&L cai dyno sheets with more power then mine.. If what the magazines say is right my car should be on the low end of the scale.. Heres the dyno sheet.

here is the engine.

Re: Is there any diffrence in CAI's?

So is that a dyno tune then? 297/310 here with a canned tune from Bama before he teamed up with AM. We are having a dyno day next weekend so I'm curious to see what they are considering I don't think it made what it should have the 1st time.
