What's the best shifter for a GT?

I do like the short throw on the stock shifter but--3rd is a bt-- to down shift to and since the install of the 4:10s I find I need to be able to find it(heel and toe) with out thought, so to speak.
Thanks

I like my steeda tri-ax. Takes a little getting use to if your not use to a short throw shifter.

Re: What's the best shifter for a GT?

MGW makes the best shifter for 05+ its extremly good quality and my friend LOVES his in his 08 gt, everyone is different, but many agree MGW is the best on the market.

As long as you dont go with a cheap no name you should be fine though

ford racing
roush
steeda

they all make a version

I agree completely! I had the roush shifter in my 05 for almost 2 years. It has by far the shortest throws, but it's notchy/jerky as hell. It's super stiff which I like, but it feels like it's "popping" into gear with each flick of the wrist...

The MGW has a little bit longer throw than the Roush, but is all around much smoother in transition between gears...In the past I was never a big fan of the MGW product, but for 05+'s they are very nice...

All in all, as Spector said, any of the major brand shifters will be a quality part....roush, mgw, ford racing, pro 5.0, & steeda tri-ax

thanks for the input. From what I have heard all of these choices are a step up from the stock shifter then?

the best shifter is any aftermarket shifter replacing the factory shifter.

the shifters in pre 05 and 05+ differ, you 05+ guys have that goofy linkage and its hard to get used to for me~

Re: What's the best shifter for a GT?

I got the Saleen short throw block, it's not bad on daily driving but sucks in auto cross (too notchy), my next one will be the new style MGW.

Re: What's the best shifter for a GT?

What ever shifter you decide on also get a CHE K member brace w/tq limiters. This makes shifting smoother and virtually eliminates miss shifts.
