Dyno results after bolt-ons - 07 GT

For those of you still in the bolt-on stage like me...I had my 07GT dyno tuned today. Bolt-ons so far include Corsa x-pipe and Corsa mufflers and Roush cold air intake (with the narrowed-tube insert removed). Dyno results after custom tune were 300 rwhp and 321 lb/ft torque.
Tune was done at PSI motorsports in Webster, TX (south of Houston). They saved the tune settings to my SCT Xcal flash tuner and to his computer...so if any of you in the Houston area are looking at buying a tune for an 07 GT he has it. FYI, car was still running lean on the SCT Xcal 93 octane tune.

Re: Dyno results after bolt-ons - 07 GT

Why would you want a tune from someone who lets the mixture run lean?

PRETTY sure he meant the tune that came with the xcal 2 still had his car running lean, but it was fixed by his dyno tune

Nice #s man.. I'm barely beating you in HP/TQ with a full engine swap.. I'm still basically on factory heads though, so its all good

was this on a loaded dyno/mustang dyno ? or a typical dynojet?

Sounds like dynojets to me. From what I've seen, the mustangdynos show about 199 to 215 ish at the wheels for an 05 GT 5 spd.

Re: Dyno results after bolt-ons - 07 GT

OK, whatever. I don't care about the "number"... on the dyno they used for my car it was reading 267 before any boltons and now it reads 300. By your reports the engines in 05+ GTs are losing 33% of crank horsepower before turning wheels. That doesn't sound right.

Re: Dyno results after bolt-ons - 07 GT

He didn't "let it run lean". The SCT tune had it running lean and he re-tuned it and saved the new parameters so could use on other 07s. Sorry about the confusion. Car runs a lot better since he re-tuned it.

FYI again: I optioned for the 3.55 gears on 07 but Ford uses same ECM for all 07 GTs which is programmed for 3.37 gears so when they entered gear ratio of 3.55 into computer for SCT tune and I downloaded to car, the car wouldn't start....that was a pain in the *** to figure out!!

You can't be serious. They dyno around 260-270 man. Do some research. 300 rwhp is pretty common with a 93 octane tune, CAI, and full exhaust with long tubes.

I was just wondering how you would lose nearly 90 hp through the drive train of a car that only makes 300 brake

maybe if you ran it without any oil in the tranny.

Well, he did state on a mustang dyno...which will read lower than a dynojet so the loss would appear greater...90 still seems like a stretch, but, a MD will read lower than a DJ everyday of the week.

Re: Dyno results after bolt-ons - 07 GT

From what I have read and heard about Mustang dynos, there are a lot more controlable parameters that can pretty much let the operator "fabricate" a number if they want to. But who knows...

199-215 hp-that's funny or try this get real. That would mean the EDGE ponys run 154-175hp or the Bullits at 159-180. Hehehehe

Re: Dyno results after bolt-ons - 07 GT

That's funny because I'm presently looking at an issue of 5.0 and Fast Fords reading where a STOCK 05 GT dyno'd 199 at the wheels. It was on a Mustang Dyno. Yes the Mustang Dyno has more real world paramaters and can be fooled with more to cheat people who aren't paying attention.

I don't know why you all are taking so much offense toward this info about dyno numbers on a mustang dyno. "Nuh uh, my car dyno's way more that that." Oh yeah, go run it at the track and run that 13.0 ET that you "dyno slip" says it will. Guess what, you numbers will just be a hair quicker than stock if you tuner says your car has 320 ish hp on a mustang dyno. The mustang dyno in Tupelo has guys dynoing less than 350 hp and guess what they run in the 1/4...... Low 11's. Dyno's ARE TUNING APARATUS'S PEOPLE!!!! If you go to a dyno just for numbers--that is looking for high numbers no matter what opposed to getting higher numbers in relation to what the car was stock--then you have a lot to learn about in the automotive and performance world.

And they do..... Numbers are numbers. The only ones that matter to me are E.T.'s and Trap Speed.

You are looking at a load of bull****.

If anyone believes that a 300 (and slightly underrated) car dynos at 199 rwhp, they are out their goddamn head. I don't care if it's on a cheese wheel dyno. A dyno is a measuring device. Sure, some of them will be slightly different. The Mustang Dynos actually simulate a load being on the car while the Dynojets do not. However, that is not going to cause a 70 rwhp loss.

I'd take that magazine and throw it in the trash.

And yes a 350 rwhp car can very easily run low 11s. I don't see what the big deal is there. I've seen 300 rwhp cars break into the high 11s. It's all about weight and traction.

The fact is, a dyno is a much better measure of actual power output than a track. A track measures power, weight, and traction. A dyno measures power, and that's it.
