05 GT cold air intake?

I would like to put a cold air intake on my GT and I see their are plenty of options in manufactures as well as a wide price range. Any suggestions on choosing one?

Re: 05 GT cold air intake?

Keeping in mind that you will need a tune with most CAI kits.

I currently have a JLT and I am not happy with it because the intake tube gets way too hot compared to many other performance CAIs. I am looking at changing to a C&L Racer, or maybe a Steeda.

If you don't want to have to retune then I would recommend the K&N which has a decent performance gain but not as much as the tuneable ones.

I was going to get the JLT but heard so much about the heat of the tube. Do you notice a drop in performance when the tube gets to hot?

I love my Steeda! I think it loves me too.

Yes, and part of the problem is that the tube actually rests on the lower radiator hose. This is a poor design IMHO and it pisses me off.

I am shopping now and I am thinking either Steeda or C&L Racer.

You could just raise the shield that the filter lays on by putting in spacers. The JLT had the highest gains from MM&FF review of CAI's. It's an easy install and you can just adjust the final resting place of the CAI with a little ingenuity.

MM&FF? Sounds like a Craigslist ad.

Can you point me to that article? Cool site BTW. Will be spending way too much time there.

Re: 05 GT cold air intake?

I did a search on google a while back until I found reviews on them. I don't have the link handy so you'll have to use the old search engine method.

I did. Found some old (4+ years) comparison reviews that were good then, but outdated now that there's other players putting out equal if not better systems. Didn't see anything on JLT either. Back then JLT and C&L seemed to be the best choices. Now that FRPP, Steeda, and others are in the game, those old articles need updating.

Re: 05 GT cold air intake?

Yeah the internet is full of outdated junk, keep looking. I think the MM&FF article I saw was from 09.
