SCT Tuner

I have an 06 GT with a CAI, flow master axle backs and two performance chips. One chip wires into the IAT sensor and the other chip is wired into the two catalyctic converters. Supposed to add about 40 hp with the chips and I don't think it's that much. Many people say the chips aren't that good. Is an SCT Tuner a lot better? Will i notice more gains on the race tune? And is it worth spending that much money?

Re: SCT Tuner

Stang23 a SCT tuner is not only good it is actually a requirement for installing tunes for upgrades to your mustang gt. These tunes make your car run right when installed. I also gives you options on installing different tunes for you needs, for e.g street tune for pedal response and fuel economy, race tune for the track , 89 octane tune for when you wallet doesn't allow 93 octane and so on. Call American Muscle and get an SCT tuner and a few tunes for life when one is purchased from them. There is also the Diablo hand held tuner but SCT is more preferred.

Re: SCT Tuner

yep tuners are way better

They are way more functional and allow for variability at any time unlike chips which basically leave you with one tune per chip. Plus most connect straight to your DB2 so they r really easy change tunes on the go straight from the drivers seat.

Re: SCT Tuner

I don't know which ones you bought, but most of the time chips that you buy don't even do what they promise to do. This may not be true for all cases (ex. chips for pre 96 mustangs, b/c they didn't have DB2) but in most cases chips are just a waste of money. If you look at some peoples' reviews of chips they have bought that holds true. For instance, I can't remember what company makes it but there was some chip that was sold on ebay for like $80 dollars and stated that it would give you gains of 15-20 hp with better gas mileage, then somebody I read about on another forum bought this, dynoed his car with the chip and without the chip, and he actually lost 3 hp with the chip. Now, this lower amount of horsepower may give you some extra mpg's but the difference in mpg's would be soooooo small that it wouldn't show any decent increase in savings, and possibly could be hurting your car.

Ya if you go on performancechipsdirect.com that's actually where I bought both chips and its the one that Ur talking about it said 15-20 with the first one and you can adjust if you want more hp or gas mileage and then I have a second chip on each of the catalytic converters which are called oxygen sensor chips and these chips I got all off the website. But I didn't notice really anything when I was all done.

Re: SCT Tuner

Tune it, and never look back. I have been running SCT for years, even when they had chips for EEC IV (still do). That is the only chip that was ever worth buying, because you couldnt flash the old computers.

Re: SCT Tuner

While you're waiting on getting enough money try to sell the chips you bought to someone to try to make your money back. I would take the chips off until you get a sct tuner and save some gas. If your stang is automatic it will firm the shifts like you put a shift kit in also.

It is an automatic but already has a shift kit in it. But the kit didn't bring as much firmness that I thought it would so will the tune give it more firmness on top of the shift kit?
