What brand of oil is the best for a 2007 shelby gt?

Question for all. Just got my Shelby gt about 3 months ago. Was wondering what brand of oil I should go with? Was thinking of mobil 1 or castrol. What y'all think?

Yeah. I know. I've used synthetic on all my vehicles since I started driving. I'll need to read up on which brand would b better for my sgt. I guess it's just like preference when it cones to these 2 brands.

I've known several people that have switched back to conventional oil after they used synthetic oil. You can even mix them if u wanted to.

Oil is a myth its all about longevity not quality. Use a motorcraft or valvoline is my go to oil.

The manual asks for motocraft. But I've used mobil 1 and castrol on all my other vehicles and I've never had any engine/transmission problems so I think I'll just stick wit one of those 2.

I agree that changing it on a regular interval is better than choosing a specific oil. If you are really that worried about quality then don't buy anything from a local store. Order from an Amsoil or Royal Purple dealer and enjoy your $60 oil changes.

Don't even start the discussion on oil filters.

Oil filters are a good subject. Most are exactly the same inside and out, but the K&N oil filter is housed in a thicker shell. Then they weld a nut to the bottom that is the same wrench size as the oil drain plug. It makes removing the filter much easier.

I've never really used amsoil or royal purple. Never really wanted to change from wut seems to work for me. (if it ain't broke, y fix it). And as far as the oil filters. I've gone wit k&n as well as mobile 1. And I don't really c a difference so I'll stick wit those 2.

I don't see how you could possibly see any difference in any of these products. Lol. I man has anyone seen royal purple and amsoil make more hp than other oils on a dyno . Or disassembled a motor running amsoil vs. valvoline and seen a noticeable difference in wear? I'm just not buying it, its all successful marketing. Plus when your changes are 8 quarts, it gets expensive.

Exactly my point. I use these oils cuz of their rep. and I'm satisfied with the results. So I'm going to continue to use mobil 1 or castrol.

Re: What brand of oil is the best for a 2007 shelby gt?

The oil change interval is the most important issue here. If you use an expensive synthetic oil and change it as often as you would normally change a conventional oil, say like every 3,000 miles, you are wasting your money. The main advantage to those pricey oils is their claims of extended oil change intervals, as high as 12,000 miles. It would take me 3 years to drive my car that many miles.

Ford recommends a synthetic blend oil, soooooo... what to do?

I buy the Car Quest brand full synthetic and change my oil every 5000 miles. The oil is a third of the price of Royal Purple, and it is re-branded Valvoline Full Synthetic. With a $9 K&N oil filter, my oil change is about $38. Cheap insurance for a $62,000 investment.

I don't fully agree with this. The reason they say you can extend your changes with some oils is because it is designed to nut break down as quickly but you will still get deposits. It is inevitable. Changing the filter more often would help I assume but for my cars, every three k.

Ditto....I like amsoil but there are other good oils out there. I like the preferred customer discount. Wholesale for all amsoil products just makes cents to me. Teehee I wrote cents cause I save a few bucks over retail woohoo. I run 5w30 in winter and 10w30 in summer. I am simply following fords recommendations in Australia. Funny that ford recommends a different viscosity there. CAFE LAWS IN EFFECT.... I will never put 5w20 in my ford ever again after reading those articles. And ford saves millions in penalties by telling us to use 5w20 because it get 1/10 better mileage while sacrificing our engines to die early. If any of you want a good read google the CAFE laws then decide if you will still follow fords north American recommendation.

Mobile 1 High Mileage Synthetic.
K&N Filter.
(don't actually GO 15,000 miles btwn changes - change it like normal)
If it's good enough for the ZR1 then it's good enough for my Stage3.
