Shelby gt exhaust question

Thinking of getting a borla axle-back exhaust for my sgt. The manual claims to have a "specially tuned exhaust system" on the car already. If I change out the mufflers would I lose the tune/ decrease my HP? Or would I increase my hp and keep the tune?

Re: Shelby gt exhaust question

It may sound different, will not improve performance to the point that you will feel it.

Re: Shelby gt exhaust question

Yea, if you get a 3" complete system it will make a little more power. Dont wast money on mufflers buy long tube headers and cated x-pipe first

Re: Shelby gt exhaust question

Exhaust changes do not require a tune change. you only get out what you put in! when they talk about exhaust tune, they design the manifolds and pipe size to flow with just the write back pressure ( for stock cars ). Headers will make power and change the sound, if you want more sound after changing to headers then do the mufflers.

Oh by the way. The sgt comes stock with a x-pipe so I guess I'll just go for the long tube headers.

Re: Shelby gt exhaust question

your factory x pipe will not work with long tube headers, you must buy the short x-pipe that go's with the headers! OR u can buy shorty headers and use your OEM x-pipe., but i would ( and did ) go with the first option.

Re: Shelby gt exhaust question

You will need a tune to go along with those LTs.

Re: Shelby gt exhaust question

Axle back is a good starting point. If all you're wanting is a little more sound then it's a good investment.

Yeah I was thinking the same. I like my exhaust system rite now, just want a little more rumble. But I think I'll wait and get the cai and tune for it first.
