cam scratch

i bought a set of 127300 comp cams from a buddy of mine and one of the lobes has a scratch on it is that a problem? i mine its not a bad scratch but its noticeable. he ran them in his car for 5000 miles.

take it to a machine shop, if it is not bad they can buff it down with emery cloth. also that cam requires you change the valve springs, Why did your friend take them out?

+1 def get that buffed down a bit, that way the lifter roller rides sumwut true. it might be fine, but it seems awful deep on the pics from here.

Are you guys kidding me, I just went from BBR stg1 cams to FFRP hot rod cams and from what many mechanics and techs told me I would return those cams or toss them before installing them. Buffing out that scratch to the point where it can no longer be seen means reducing the lobe pitch of that particular lobe, definitely a NO NO. Even a third of a millimeter will change the profile.

If you want you could have my BBR stg 1 cams I just took out only 2800 miles.

wutever lift you lose on that one valve i dought will b a noticable difference in h.p.
