09 GT setup

Any Thoughts on the following setup? Looking for natural aspiration horsepower & torque gains.
Detroit Rocker cams, Frpp Intake Manifold, Frpp throttle body, 3:73 gears (manual), custom Brenspeed tune. Car already has Steeda cai, Borla cat w/ x pipe.

Re: 09 GT setup

Better get yourself some LTs to pair up with those cams.

Re: 09 GT setup

Yes the make more power when paired with LTs. Cams, full exhaust ect will make around 340whp and I've seen a car with cams and just midpipe, cai and tune only make 310whp. Kooks,JBA,and Mac are some good brands with Kooks being on the high end.

Is that w/ headers or without? I was told I would get those numbers w/o headers. The amount of air the intake, etc is bringing to the cams should bring the same numbers?

Re: 09 GT setup

You are not gonna make those #s without headers,Ive seen it and will see it again when the same guy with the same mods puts his car on the dyno Feb 26. I will post the #s for a example if it will help you get a idea.

I would be interested in seeing their results. I'm hoping to have mine done around 2nd wk in. Feb. Will post dyno #'s

Another issue is sound, I'm in an area that draws attention by police. Had Vance & Hines on the Harley & kept getting stopped. How loud will the headers, cams, plus x pipe be?

If ur runnin an off-road mid pipe, it'll be real loud, but with the full setup of exhaust with headers it'll still be fairly loud with cats

Re: 09 GT setup

The car I'm speaking about has a O.R. H pipe, axelbacks and frpp hot rod cams. This car sounds really good but it is ****ing obnoxious! I love the way it sounds but would personally not want it that way if it was a daily driver which his is.

That's my concern, this car is a daily driver and I usually roll in early mornings. I'm not sure about the o/r comment. The x pipe is what comes w/ Borla Cat Back exhaust system.

Unclear on direction too take. Hate to spend this type of $ for such small HP gain and/or have something obnoxious in sound for a daily driver.

Re: 09 GT setup

If you don't do the longtubes with the cams you will be paying for nothing but sound, minimal gains and it will be loud. Is the x that you have catted?

Re: 09 GT setup

Cats are gonna make it more quiet for sure but if you are looking for HP gains dont get your hopes up if you dont plan on doing LTs at the same time.If you just want the sound for now and some minimal gains then go for it.You can add the LTs later but I would wait if it were me.
