Steeda CAI

Hey guys quick question. My friends have told me to get a regular air intake and not a CAI. Main reason why is cause here in Miami it rains like crazy and water getting into the CAI can flood the engine. Is this true or no not really?

Re: Steeda CAI

most intakes for all 05-09 are maintained in the engine bay so rain wont mess with them, the ones that go down in the fender are ones you should worry about with rain.

Factory GT mustangs comes with an open air element in the shelby GT and GT500 so im sure its ok.

You will need a retune if you put most any CAI on your vehicle though.

Re: Steeda CAI

Just get the JLT CAI, most of them are the same anyway. MM&FF did a review a little while back and the JLT had the most gains on the 05+ Mustang. It is also 1/2 the price of a Steeda.

I'm wondering why no one ever recommends k&n CAI. Are they overpriced or not efficient or something.

Re: Steeda CAI

they got a bad name for being overpriced back in the 99-04 days so I guess thats why. There are better options out there for the money that make more power as well on newer cars.

All of the neighbors around here have k&n banners or flags hanging in the garage or man cave. I also noticed no one recommends them.

So what's your recomendation for an 07 GT? K&N or JLT? And I'm going to guess that I would need a tune with any as well, right?

The gt's stock rev above the redline. The redline shows 6,000 on the gauge and they rev to like 6,300. But what tune do you have?

I think stock rev limit on a 4.6 in a new edge is 6250. I brought er down to 5900 and my window switch shuts off at 5600...

Damn, I can hear the air intake without it, I can only imagine what it would sound like with a CAI!! Gonna have to try to get me one after I get back from my trip to Peru Sunday.

Your window switch shuts off at 5600?? That's crazy. You are talking about your window not rolling down, right??

Nitrous. I wish us with a new egde got the gains you 05 and up get from a cai. They just look nice for us. Don't really help much. I am thinking of a 3v head upgrade on my 2v. You guys cruise man. Happy driving
