Supercharger Vs. Turbocharger

I am wanting to beef-up my 09 GT and i'm currently researching Supercharger and Turbocharger systems. Does anyone have any advice, recommendation, experience, etc on which way to go and brand/models? I am currently running a stock engine except for a CAI. I'm also getting ready to get Ford Racing Stinger Axle-back exhaust installed.

I like turbos because they use exhaust gas to spool up therefore "free" energy and they provide a pretty flat torque curve but tork teck and whipple make a beautiful unit too. They both have pros and cons and whichever you choose your going to love it

Re: Supercharger Vs. Turbocharger

your motor will hold 450rwhp max (well it will hold more but thats about the safe limit) and a supercharger or turbo will get you there.

A turbo will do it on less boost and is generally the best way to go, cost of around 6-7k plus another 1-2k for install unless you do that yourself.

A supercharger will also get you there on a bit more boost (around 10psi) and will be easier to install and what not. Cost around 5k and install will be about 1-2k as well.

Turbo would be far more rare, check Helion turbo kits out. Procharger or Paxton seem to have good kits for superchargers out, my friend has a Paxton on his 06 GT and it puts out 470rwhp on 10psi and his is an auto.

The other alternative is a root supercharger or twin screw (they are different but same idea) they are positive displacement blowers meaning they sit directly on top of the motor. They make AMAZING tq (look at my tq curve dyno sheet link in my sig) but are harder on the engine down low (not a big deal though on your car at about 450rwhp). They dont have as much top end... but for a daily driver they are probably the most fun setup to have and install is not to bad other than a water heat exchanger you have to plumb up. Cost will be about like of a supercharger. Go with whipple as they have Ford Racing kits available.

I use a Roush TVS 2300 and I love it. Install it right and it looks like it rolled off the assembly line with it on there. I've owned a few turbo cars and they are a lot of fun when the turbo spools up. But in my opinion there is nothing like the scream of a supercharger at WOT.

I like superchargers, go with ford racings blower or kenne bell or whipple, there expensive, but they will definitely put down the #'s
