Anyone know of a good h pipe with cats? Can't seem to find too many places that sell the full h pipe.

But do they come with 4 or 2 cats stock? Most catted aftermarket H-Pipes are only 2 high flow cats which can still pass emissions.

I don't know much about 2005+ Mustangs though. This was the case Pre 2005 however.

Lots of choices but make sure you decide now if you ever plan on installing headers because if so most times the H or X pipe will need to be of the same brand to match up correctly. I have Kooks long tubes with H pipe. Expensive but top of line quality.

I do plan on installing headers but idk about long tubes. There just a lot louder and where I live the neighbors would not like it and I would probably get tired of the loudness myself after some time.

In my experience long tubes do not make the car obnoxious, the choice of muffler does. My long tubes have made my car sound deeper. Under normal driving around your neighborhood the car will sound not much louder at all. Your choice, just giving you more to think about

Ya and I live in Cali so longtubes would never pass inspection. What kind of mufflers are you running after the kooks longtubes and h pipe?

Re: H Pipe

just get O2 sensor kits...they are suppose to be able to make you pass inspection...how is it in Cali? In NC its just bc of the check engine light...which can also be fixed when you get it tuned

I don't even think longtubes will pass the inspection test in Cali let alone the sniffer test. They are a lot more strict here than other states.

Me to! I think Cali also visually checks to make sure there are cats in place besides the strict emissions.

Re: H Pipe

If you are concerned about Emissions and noise, Why do you want to replace you factory H-pipe? Ford cats have a very good flow. After market is better ,but not so much you would notice. Just put sone nice mufflers on it.

I've heard the stock cats are really restrictive so thats why I wanted a catted h pipe that has better flow and will be a little louder and sound better. I probably won't do headers for a while so for now I wanted to focus on the h pipe and catback which are the two things I want to do. I just haven't found the exact setup I want because theres so many damn options. All I want is that deep muscle car sound without that ricer raspiness. Do you have any suggestions on a good midpipe and catback setup that won't cost a huge amount of money?

Well here's the thing. Either way your not going to get any decent H pipe and Cat back without spending a good amount of cash. All the good ones are only about 1-2 hundred dollars difference in price. You need to decide what's your top dollar and whether you want stainless or not and so on and so on. Personally I believe it's better to sometimes spend a little more up front than try and pinch you pennies because you do get what you pay for. MagnaFlow for example is 100% stainless and will give you the sound your looking for and will last a lifetime.

Ya I like the magnapacks they sound pretty awesome. I might do that first and then when i get more cash then a midpipe. Do you think instead of an h pipe if I do a magnaflow catted x with the magnapacks would it sound good?

Re: H Pipe

I would not replace the mid pipes, factory is 2 1/2" , 3" will hurt performance. I tryed magnflow mid pipes when i put duels on my daughters V6. They had smoother bends at the rear, but i could not stop them from rattling on the panhard support bar. I replaced them with a factory GT set, and it is care free and sounded better. The parts are so expensive i would not wast the money. Wait, Keep the factory H-pipe, and mid pipes, and buy a set of short headers. That will give you a better sound, and no emis problems. Find out if you can legally run LT's, if you can and you want to then you must replace the H-pipe. I think planning and then build in best and cheeper.

The magnapacks are a good sounding muffler, get them first

I am sure they will both sound great. I for one like the deeper sound o the H. Getting them one at a time will help the wallet

Ya I'll get the magnapacks first and then see how they sound with the stock h. Then decide what I want from there.

If I do headers in the future I might just go with a set of tuned shortys and then it should sound pretty damn good. Long tubes I'm pretty sure aren't legal here and there really loud. I don't want it really loud so.

Re: H Pipe

I am running BBK LT's with BBK catted X-pipe, stock mids, and Ford bullitt mufflers. I love the sound. The headers realy changed the sound of the mufflers to. more than i though it could

Do you know if I should go 3" or stay at 2.5 on the catback? Because I can get the magnapacks in 3" which I would think be better for more flow.

You aren't moving enough air to justify a 3 inch pipe

Definitely stay 2 1/2. You need the back pressure. 3" for high high horsepower motors.
