I've posted threads about gears before, but I want to make sure that I get the correct one. Ive read and heard that 4.10s are too much for my 05 GT manual. (I drive it on the highway quite a bit). I also heard that 3.73 wont give me the increase I'm looking for. I want to know if 3.90s are the way to go? Many of you guys have helped me out before, but i'm just double checking. I want to know if anyone else has 3.90s in their 05+ GT and what their opinions on them are? Thanks.
well i don'r have a GT ,I have a Mach 1 with for 4.10's , i luv them, no prob's on the highway for me , drove it from N.J. to FLorida and got 23 + mpg's on the trip running 80 mph pretty steady ............... but 3.73's to 3.90's i don't think you'd see any diff
I have 3.90s. It pulls like a freight train and revs at 2200 at 70 on the highway with bolt ons.I drove a new edge with 4.10s and it was too much for me. As far as fuel goes my city miles improved to 18 and highway is about 25. These mod motors are efficient at high revs. Must be the cams....google Paladinmicro. There is a gear calculator that is unreal. Once you get to the site on your left hand side is your options. Just click on speed vs revs. Trust me. It's the best gear calculator ever
thanks alot. my question also is that with the 3.90s, how much faster 0-60 will it be? im also going to get a cai and tuner if that helps....
K. Your car does benefit from a cai and tune. I don't know for sure which are the best for your model however I have heard good things about jlb. Buy a plastic or carbon fiber or whatever they are. The metal ones suffer from heatsoak and defeats the purpose of trying to get cold air in when it gets hot. And I never timed myself with the new gears as it was late in the season and the only time I got to the track was a 20$ all you can run with no timer. I can tell you that it shreds rubber thru 3rd now and pulls at least twice as good as it did before with 3.27s in it. You won't be disappointed. And I got motive gears with the bearing kit from rons machine for 230 shipped to Canada. I thought that was a good deal. I can provide his email if you like. And my motives don't whine at all. Install is key. And I paid 300 for install and I provided parts.
