Everyone has a different opinion on them. Ive never had one but if I were to get one i'd get a supercharger.

Re: Supercharger/Turbo???

everyone has their opinion

you can go with a roots or twin screw (positive displacement) blower for more bottom end tq and quicker tq gains in the rpm range, but lacks a bit up top compared to a centrifugal supercharger setup. I have a M112 Eaton root supercharger (not as effeciant as a twin screw) and you can view my dyno graph in my sig and see the low end TQ I have.

A centrifugal is tried and true, less work than a turbo, but doesnt give as much of a low end boost in power as a positive displacement setup.

A turbo will give the best hp (takes exhaust not engine power to make boost) but will be the most expensive (but much harder to find others with the same setup)

I think for a daily driver a roost/twin screw is the way to go. Ford has whipple superchargers or you can buy a kit etc, install is not that bad. Power gains are really good if the blower is a good one (twin screw not a root blower)

Re: Supercharger/Turbo???

You could go with a compound boost set up. Strap a roots on for your low end, and throw a turbo on for the top end.

There's your answer. Doesn't get better explained than that. Should make it a sticky so it doesn't need to be answered anymore

Re: Supercharger/Turbo???

My car is supercharged and my (work)truck is turbocharged....

I think superchargers are the ticket, bang for the buck wise...

A turbo is a better power added but costs more

Re: Supercharger/Turbo???

I haven't driven many turbo cars, but the ones I did had just a little lag... The new ones might not, but I think they still do just a bit..

Re: Supercharger/Turbo???

I would definately say supercharger, I have an 07 Roush 427R and have done a tone of upgrades. ported the M90, Dynatech Aluminum driveshaft, 1-3.4" long tubes and a bunch of other fun stuff, however after 10,000 miles, I decided to rebuild the motor using all forged internals, Dropped the compression to 8.3-1 and added a KB 2.8H. It will be back on the road hopefully the end of the week, and My target is 1000hp+ at the tires. I wont say all I have done, but the list is extensive, and my desire to have more has caused another divorce. Turbo's are great if your wanting to spend alot and do alot of fab work, I will say i made 465rwhp with a stock Roush M90 ported and a few other goodies, but with the new motor internals and supercharger, I definately have what Ive wanted. all that out of a 281ci motor. absolutely amazing what we can do with our fords today.

Thanks, that's true, also why I removed the Roush charged emblems from the hood scoop. It's funny also how so many people talk up the FRPP blower cams. I went with the Comp and phaser limiters and can say im way more impressed.
