Clunky Rattle??

I bought a 2008 GT last Fall, and over the Winter I installed:
FRPP 5300K Springs
J&M C/C Plates
Strut Tower Brace
J&M Adj. Panhard Rod
FRPP GTA Mufflers
Steeda UD Pulleys
Steeda Tri-Ax Shifter
Nitto NT555 255/50/17’s
(Car had 17x9 black Bullitts)
Also had OEM TPM’s installed on Bullitts.

I’m generally happy with all of the mods, but now there’s a clunky sort of rattle that I hear with every little bump -- low speed or high. Sounds like it’s in the front, but it’s difficult to tell. Can anyone help? Before, it was too civilized, and now it’s too much of a hot-rod rattle-trap!!

Struts? Strut Mounts? Sway Bar Links? Shooting in the dark it could be anything suspension related without looking at it.

Re: Clunky Rattle??

you installed CC plates, so that should have eliminated the strut-mounts (a likely culprit). The next likely source is the sway bar end-links. If they are not torqued correctly, they will rattle and make the noise you are describing. They are also known to come loose after they have been taken apart. If your panhard bar has steel ends, then they too will make noise going over bumps.

Thank you for noting that.

Re: Clunky Rattle??

Thanks for the input!! I haven't been back under the car to try to find something loose, but I will do that. I was most curious if anyone knew that:
-- K springs on stock struts tended to rattle?
-- My unbolting and reattaching the drive shaft in the shifter install might be the source, even though I was very careful to reinstall exactly like it was.
-- Something associated with the Tri-Ax shifter tended to rattle?

I will definitely check the sway bar end links and panhard bar attachments. I did not have a torque spec on the end links, but I'm sure that I got them tight. The panhard bar used the bushings and sleeves from the OEM part, and they seemed to fit well.

I was very careful in doing the work, but there's surely something amiss.

Check your exhaust also and see if one of the hangers is hitting the frame. I had that problem for a while. A hammer and some time fixed her right up
