X-pipes and headers

Hey what's up everyone?
A buddy of mine said it'd be better to have the same brand headers as x pipes, now is this true?
Because the Pypes headers look lame vs tune-length headers but the pypes x pipes sound pretty sick,
Any advice could help, thanks!

It shouldnt make a difference whether they're the same brand or not.

Was that just shorty headers and flowmaster mufflers?

Kooks are expensive though and I'm not fairly familiar with which tuner to go with

Check out the vid from one of our dyno days. My old 07 was the one in the first part of the vid, just so you can get a idea of the sound.

Couple of things,

Long Tubes are the way to go if you are going to bother changing from stock. I would recommend getting them coated as well because aftermarket headers do not absorb heat as well as factory and will generate much more heat under the hood. With long tubes it just takes a good tune to get her running right and there are some good options out there for tuners & tunes like Brenspeed or JDM.

As far as matching headers to H/X pipe it's gonna take research on your part to find out what companies will match up correctly. Example, BBK long tube headers have the collectors further back than Kooks headers so you could not use Kooks H/X pipe with BBK headers and vice versa. I for one love my Hooks LT's and H pipe and can highly recommend them. They are pricey but I am a firm believer that you get what you pay for.

K so shortys aren't worth the dollars vs horsepower. Long tubes or its not really worth it. And I would buy a system from the same manufacturer so there aren't any fitment issues. Long tubes to off road h-pipe to dumps out the back. Glasspacks for mufflers(resonator). And hit the loud pedal. Yeeeeehaaaaaa
