Re: Retro styling

I didn't like foxes when they came out back then and I'm still not fond of them today. It was like Ford threw in the towel and accepted mediocracy. I will admit I've seen some nice customized ones, but in stock trim they do nothing for me.

Re: Retro styling

I'm a huge s197 fan I really lie the retro style I don't really car for the 2011 + I like the front of them but the rear end looks like someone pinched the tail lights on the edges. and I really never liked the fox body but those who do i respect your opinion . Besides all mustangs are beautiful to me.

I'm with you, I like the 05-07's, the newer one's...I'm just not feeling them.

Re: Retro styling

I agree with 06mustangmike the first time i saw the 2005 stang I wanted one I thought the lines of the body style were awsome . I finally got a 2006 gt. Before that I had a 1998 gt witch is also a good body style.

Wow, gotta love the mustang love. I have been in love withe the late 60s fastbacks but never could afford one in good condition. On be otherhand, I have no mechanical skills to fix up a cheap one. Screwed, right?? Then along came the 05 and I was sold. Bought one before they were even on the lot. Special ordered mineral grey with upgraded red leather interior. Colors don't date back to the 60s, but I think Ford did a great job starting the "retro" era. A few minor mods and body changes and the thing looks like a beast. I'll get some picks up once I pull the pony out of the stable! She doesn't like the nasty Chicago weather.

Regarding the new style, I thunk they are battling with the camaro for the first car to fly to the moon. Not a big fan. The only other retro I like is the Dodge Challenger, also a kick a** car.

05-09 are retro styled and look good, but take mods to really start to look good to me

Re: Retro styling

The mods they have nowadays could make a yugo look good, but the mods out for mustangs are endless and are really well made I remember a time when if you wanted mods for your car you had to make them yourself , trhank god for technology.

Agreed! Dodge did a great job resurrecting the Challenger's retro style. It'd be my #2 pick behind the S197.

Re: Retro styling

I think that all Mustangs rock, not a big Mustang II fan, but I accept them as "real" Mustangs... Love early fastbacks, love the 05 and up. I think the 05 and up are kind of plain stock and they need a little upgrading or modding to look good...

I was very excited when the 05's came out. First new car I have ordered and bought...

I pretty much agree with this statement. I grew up with a '79 Fox 6-cyl. It was a fun car to drive and good looking. It had way too many electrical problems though. My 2010 may be larger but it's much more refined and very comfortable on long trips.

As for the looks, I prefer the s197's to the Foxes. I'm especially fond of the 2010+ models. Initially I didn't particularly like the rear end either but it's grown on me. On the 05-09 models, I felt the rear end photographed well but in real life it was very bland and needed something more. In the 2010+ models they addressed this for me. I like how it references the past without copying it outright. For me, it's got more character. The biggest difference is in the interiors though. Again, I thought the early s197's looked good in photos but in real life something was missing. The 2010 model fixed this. First time I sat in one at the showroom, I was like... Ahhhhhh, this is right. I wanted one and now I've got one

I do like the front end of the 2010s alot but the rear just looks pinched, but I do like the turn signals.

Re: Retro styling

I remember having these same conversations about Mustangs in the 70's, and how a lot of people didn't like the "new" models...

It is a cool kit, hell $1,000 aint that much these days... I know a guy who spent that on a carbon fiber hood for his $2,000 "Clobra"....
