Retro styling

I've been reading through several threads and have noticed that many people on here don't like the retro styling of the 05+ mustangs.... They think the fox bodies are better. Now, not to anger anyone, because I love almost all mustangs, but am I in the minority that thinks the fox bodies aren't that attractive compared to the retro stangs? I don't want to start a war with this thread, but anyone else feel the same way I do??

The retro styling is great. The only thing I am against is the size of the car. It got bigger. It's been a small high powered car since 79. Some people hate change.

They are nice to look at. And are more comfortable to ride in. Just not as dangerous/not as fun.

Re: Retro styling

I think I love the Fox Bodies so much because that was the first mustang I rode it...classic if you ask me and when I turned 16 the 94-98's were just coming out.

The 05-current just don't appeal to me at all. If someone adds the louvers to the quarter windows I want to puke. Although I do really love some of the new ones when they are done right...

Plus the new ones are just too big of cars and it seems like they are everywhere!

Re: Retro styling

stock fox stangs are rather boring and old style, but you can fix them up to look very nice. I personally like notch backs MUCH more than the hatchbacks.

They started going downhill in 05. New edge was the last of the hot mustangs. What the newer ones lack in style they more than make up for in power...I dont mind the trade

I"m right there with you for the most part. 05-09 are the best looking stangs since 1970 imo. I just love that style. I'm also a huge fan of the mustang II's IF they are hatchback with spoiler and louvers. I like the fox bodies, I even have one, but they are not my favorites.

I like the s197s the best. Mainly because ive always dreamed of having a 1971 stang. Those are huge. I love how they're going back to the old design

Re: Retro styling

These cars have gotten bigger to better accommodate all the sfety stuff. I have owned a fox stang, an SN95, and the new edge. These cars are alos bigger/heavier to better harness the extra power these S197 platform cars make... No other Mustang has come stock with as much power or torque as these newer Mustangs... For me, they hit the nail on the head on the 05-09 cars... For the 10-up, the *** end needs help...

I like foxes that have been fixed up. Sometimes if it's beat to death it resembles an old escort. Lol

Very true
Thats why I never really cared for foxes until I got onto this site
And thanks to 93cobra I want a 93 one day
Lol

I like most stangs
I don't care for the newest 2010 and 2011 stangs cause of the back end
Just too rounded for my taste
but definately love their engines

I don't hate the S-197's they are just so damn big now! I hate big cars in general. If they would have scaled them down a bit...... then yes, they would be appealing to me!

I couldn't agree with you more. Everything I am going to say is ONLY about looks and has nothing to do with performance.

I have had EVERY incarnation of the Mustang. I started with a 1967 which was until recently my favorite to look at. I have had 1967, 1969, 1973, 1976, 1983, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1996, 2002 and now a 2005. Ever since I sold my 67 I have always dreamed about getting another one and make an "Eleanor". Although, I found myself really enjoying "fuel infection" and the power houses you could make out of fox body 5.0's. I still thought the best year up to 2004 style wise was 1967. 1973 was 1,234 feet long, 1976 was 4 feet wide (basically a Pinto), Fox bodies were an amazing creation. Of all my stangs I have had Fox bodies the most. I even preferred the Fox to 95-2004 stangs.

Enter 2005. I fell in love with this car the second I saw it. For me, 05-09 Stangs had it right. They combined the 60's Stang style with the modern powerhouse engines and handling. I knew right then and there that I would get an 05 and make a "modern Eleanor" and forgo the 1967.

In my opinion the 2010 and up look like they are getting away from the 60's styling and getting more euro with the pinched front end and changed rear. I do think it looks good when done up but nowhere as nice as the 05-09 .

Let's hope not. The Mustang is one of the longest running muscle cars ever built and it is for good reason. Looks/power/price and I sure hope Ford doesn't ruin a good thing!
