Borlas

Would you guys recommend getting a catback Borla system or just an axelback for an 06 GT? I'm going for louder and better sound.

Re: Borlas

I bet a catback Borla system would sound pretty good. Some stingers would make it pretty loud.
Have you checked out American Muscle's exhaust sound clips?

I have, the axelbacks seem a little too quiet

Re: Borlas

axleback does improve sound a good bit, not hp that much but sound. I would probably start there.

Re: Borlas

I had Pypes offroad "H" pipe on my '06 GT with Borla Stingers and the sound was awesome. Very deep and very mean.

I tried to take them off the GT when I sold it, but the buyer liked the sound so much he had to have them stay on the GT.

I liked the sound so much, I bought the same Borla's for my GT500.

Re: Borlas

You can't loose with the Stingers. I heard the 4" tipped GTA's FRPP puts out sound pretty sweet too.

Was it really loud with this setup? Because I hear with offroad pipes and stingers it's really loud.

It did not seem too loud to me - just a deep sound. Around 2700 rpm there was a drone, but it still sounded good to me.

Everyone has different opinions on how loud exhaust should be.

I have heard much louder set-ups.

Ya I live in a residential neighborhood and the neighbors are kind of annoying so I didnt want to make it too loud. Do you think I would be fine with an offroad h pipe and stingers or would it be too loud?

To me that is a perfect set-up. I don't think it would be too loud at all unless you rev your engine up high to annoy them.

One note though, if you go that direction, you may want a tuner to turn off the O-2 sensor light that may now come on in the form of a check engine light (as mine did before the tune). It would probably be a good idea to get a new tune anyway if you go without cats. If you keep the cats, then there would not be a need for your car to get a new tune.

Ya I'll probably go that direction. I already have a tuner from AM so they will just send me a new tune for the o/r h pipe.

I had the axle back Borla Stinger mufflers, but I replaced the cat manifold pipes with an offroad H-pipe from Pypes.

It sounds really nice! It's not too quiet or too loud when you just cruise around but when your at WOT it sounds so mean.
