Re: how much horsepower

You should definitely dyno it. With a good dyno tune you could probably squeeze out a few more ponies.

Re: how much horsepower

I will dyno it to find out for sure I really don't need to know for sure because i'm 54 years old and it has the right amount of power to make me feel 18 again and I love my stang.

Re: how much horsepower

No, you NEED to know for sure. The reason being is that "if" you have a bad tune or a tune that is borderline you could blow up your motor during those times when your feeling 18 again.

Yep, if you're going to have a setup like that, ya gotta have er tuned right. That way the investment isn't a waste of time and money.

I'm sure the tune is done correctly as it sounds like the mods were. He just doesn't have the tune info.

The only way you would know if it's right is to put it back on the dyno. The 462 is probably an accurate number but more than likey a higher number than what you are actually experiencing. I would guestimate about 435.

Re: how much horsepower

A vortech with 10psi on a S197 is gonna get you 450+ to the wheels. Also you dont wanna squeeze anymore ponies out of that because 450 is gonna keep it safe, anything above that on stock internals is a gamble.I myself would take it in for a retune just to make sure everything is spot on just for your own knowledge.Sounds like a fun car!

I totally agree about getting a dyno and tune. I just finished installing a Whipple on my 05 which came with a "custom" John Lind tune. I installed the Whipple with Whipple's 10 rib pulley kit, Kooks long tube headers and catted H pipe and a Ford Racing TB and the first run on the dyno only pulled 403 at the rear wheels with the John Lund tune. After some adjustments and a few more pulls Dez Racing got me to 455 at the rear wheels and 563 at the crank.

My point is Whipple advertises 450 RWHP for my kit but it was only making 403 until the tune was custom tuned on a dyno. The only true way to be sure all is right and what your numbers are is to have it dyno tested.

Good luck and enjoy!
