throttle body

i have an 06 gt with cai,axle backs,off road h pipe,tune.i want to know if a throttle body from an 07 shelby gt500 fit/work on my car?

Yes. All you need is an adaptor plate like this one:

do they actually help, I know on a near stock old car they dont do much of anything other than look nice

On an NA application I don't believe there is a reasonable cost/value relationship. Given the retail price of the TB kit it might be $100/per rwhp gain which in my mind is way too expensive. It sounds like the OP can get a deal on the TB. IMHO, if he can get it down to under $50/per (assuming a 5 rwhp gain) then it might be an okay deal.

i can get one for less than $100,i just had cams and longtube headers installed so i was thinking this should be my next move.

It is a very reasonable upgrade, i did it to mine, I was given a gt500 TB so it only cost me the price of the adaptor plate. and i removed the CMP's at the same time. Car ran much better, and if you compare it to the FRPP 62mm TB at a cost of 600.00 it is a no brainer.

I agree. With the OP's additional mods and price of the TB it is a no brainer. If the OP gets the adaptor plate will he also need the silicone transition boot because the GT500 TB opening is larger than stock?
