Supercharged people

Just got my procharger h.o. Kit installation finished up yesterday and had a question for you guys who have installed a supercharger of any kind. What psi are you guys running and rwhp numbers you putting down? My kit came with a 10 psi pulley but I was thinking of dropping it down to 8 psi just to keep from throwing a rod or something. Any stories good or bad will help.

Re: Supercharged people

since its an s197 you ar efine with 10lbs with no problems...just get a good tune...when i had my 05 gt i had a vortech non intercooled s-trim,comp cams, stage 2 heads and my car was putting down 565 to the tires for 2 years no problems..

10lbs on your car depending on your other supporting mods would probably be low to mid 400 range with no problems..

I have the stock rotating assembly and want to keep it that way for a couple years until I can afford forged internals. I want to keep the hp under 450 which it should be all I have besides it is a axle back exhaust. I have just heard conflicting stories in wether or not 450 was safe. I think the tune has more to do with it than anything else so I'm having it dyno tuned next Friday. Just wondering what you all thought. I guess I'll be safe sticking with the 10psi pulley.

He has a 'fully built 347' from what I'm reading... not completely far fetched (although I still have a very very hard time beleiving the claim until PICS of Dyno for proof). He claims $18,000 sunk into the engine. I'm just interested to see b/c I haven't seen him post up all his information.

I have seen 80mm and f1 series setups into the 1000hp mark.

Hi, my 05 is putting down 455 RWHP with 11.9 lbs of boost. This is whats up;

Stock block
Whipple H.O. Kit
Whipple 10 rib pulley setup
Kooks long tubes
Kooks catted H pipe
Magnaflow exhaust
FFRP 62mm Throttle body

I have other things done like a Fore fuel rail but the above mentioned parts are what makes my numbers on the dyno. Car runs like a top and pulls hard. My tuner shop could have pulled a more aggressive tune for some more pony's but chose to keep it more on the safe side. Good luck and enjoy!

Re: Supercharged people

get it TUNED fully before you dare test it out, I am sure you know that already.

I am at 14psi and 472rwhp/494rwtq on a dynocom dyno.. I didnt want to go high boost so 12-14 is the sweet spot.

Just put it on over the winter and due to weather here in Massachusetts I would say I have driven it about 600 miles. I think your concerned about how long the block will last. There is no definite but it should last as long as without a blower with a safe tune, proper maintenance and some good old common sense while driving it.

Re: Supercharged people

I heard 10psi is the amount of boost you can safetly put through a stock 3V motor, any more and it could screw things up.

My kit is a 10lb kit it just makes slightly more than advertised. Totally safe with a safe tune.

Re: Supercharged people

So does anybody think I could raise the boost with no danger of motor damage.

Well I don't wanna be the guy who says you can. I know my kit and most Whipples make more than advertised and are plenty safe. It's your call but if you decide to add boost just get her re tuned.
