Rear tire size?

Need some input on what size rubber to put on my 09 GT. I am thinking of purchasing the Godspeed Omega Deep Dish Black Chrome wheels (18x9 front and 18x10 rear). I plan on running 255/45/18 on front but don't know what to run on rear. I saw on one tire site they have a package with 275-40-18 for rears............... then found another tire site that has wheels packaged with 295-45-18. My 09 GT suspension is stock and I want to make sure that what ever wheel/tire i pick with fix without any rubbing etc. All advice and experience is greatly appreciated!

Re: Rear tire size?

It all depends on your offset, I know people the run 315/30-18's or 305/45-18 nitto drag radials without a problem. Just make sure you front to rear ratio is not too far off or will cause problems with you ABS due to the different wheel speeds. Myself, I am having my rims widened later this year and will run 335/30-18's after that in the back and 285/35-18's on the front (yes they fit). Right now I am running 275/40-18 on the front and 285/40-18's on the rear with a 1 1/2" drop withour problems.

Re: Rear tire size?

a 9 inch wide tires need AT LEAST a 265 wide tire, a 275 is the best fit. Do not go any smaller than a 265, and I highly recommend a 275. I have 275/35/18s on my front fit perfect.

For a 10 wide rear a 295/35/18 works great NO SMALLER. I wouldnt go wider than a 305 on a 10 wide with an average fit tire (every tire measures differently)

Why no smaller than 295 35 18 for a rear on 10 inch?

Is it a high HP car or do you just want the look? If its not the 275s still look really good.

every tire manuf. runs different there is no standard to what the sizes actually mean... sadly. I recommend no smaller than a 295 as if its a narrow tire or even a normal ran tire it will be right, any smaller will be to narrow and your rim lip will be exposed, looking bad and being easier to run on a curb.

Re: Rear tire size?

These are 275/40/18s. The wheel itself seems to be tucked in just fine, but as soon as I can, I will be getting 295s or 305s.

For now, I don't come within 10 feet of any curb.
