Re: Coil and plug help

they go bad, are expensive, and not worth the power gain (dont give any real power gain)

Re: Coil and plug help

OEM are just fine~ no need to buy the quad spark crap etc wont matter. Buy normal ones or motorcraft copper. Copper means you change them more often but they are very cheap.

With after market coils you get a more efficient burn of your fuel and better throttle response. And oem ford coils have been known to be garbage......

Re: Coil and plug help

if you are looking for hp/tq dont buy aftermarket coils as they dont really do anything for performance, same with high dollar spark plugs.

Re: Coil and plug help

a spark is a spark. the fuel is going to ignite the same to any brand coil.

Re: Coil and plug help

I have helped a friend with his Vortech'ed '06- he put a set of Granatelli coils on it, and the car would not rev. It would trip a misfire code every time it got to 5000 RPM. Took those off and tried a set of MSD coils. Ran great for year, then two of them died. Marcy Motorsports convinced us to put the stock Ford coils back on, and it has run great for 4 years. On Marcy's dyno, there was no change in HP or torque.

I have talked with Ford Racing techs at Seca in Ca. And they point blank said OEM coils are just fine . Even for some race apps .. Pretty impressive .... For plugs.if you have a extra 100.00 get those ford racing plug set if not OEM motorcraft from auto zone or Ford house is fine . The Ford racing is mainly for high octane 100 of better high compression super charged applications but will work for tuned on road use .....
