Cool HELP! need feedback on the 05 4.6L the good, bad, and ugly

just bought a new to me 05 gt from a ford dealer last saturday, it has the 4000mi or 3 month power train only warrenty. the car has 50,000 mi. the motor makes a light tapity sound when running but, doesnt seem like a knock but worrysome, cant even hear it with the windows rolled up. the guy that use to own it was a mustang buff and I was told he traided it for a shelby, which also scares me because im sure he drove the wheels off of it all 50k of those miles. also what do you guys think of the 05 manual transmission? this one seems to shift smooth but just feels so funky compaired to my 98 gt. and one thing I have noticed is that at higher revs the new trans mission seems to need more encouragement or force from my arm to go into the gear at high revs, but will. is this normal and just the nature of the beast or do I have a problem?

I would make sure you have plenty of fluids in your tranny and every where else.

IMO...you should have checked the car out better before you bought it. But pretty much any used stang....has been driven and prolly abused lol. That's the bad thing about driving a sports car. Good thing u have somewhat of a warranty.

Mod motors , have piston slap ,that may be what your hearing ? its common believe it or not but it does seem to go away after the engine gets hot and things expand

i dont care for how the 05+ shift, the shifter is on a linkage (not directly on the transmission like pre 05) so the shifting sucks much worse overall due to this reason and higher rpms = tq on the trans which can make it harder to shift due to mis-alignment of the shifter mechanism with the transmission.

I also just purchased my 05 GT a week ago and hear a slight "ting" when I'm sitting in park or idling. I know the previous owner didn't ride it hard (why wouldn't he!) and it seems to shift perfectly with no other problems. I'm not too worried about it, figured it was something that becomes standard over miles (has 65000).
