Just curious on potential

Im torn between getting a terminator or a 05-09' GT convertible.

If the stock performance of a 3V is 0-60=5.1 and 13.5sec 1/4 mile, can simple bolt on's get to high 12's on street tires and stock gearing? Id be happy with about 13.0, that is more than I need and I am very conservative.

Ive read a lot of mags over the years about the 3V and mods but they usually only discuss dyno results and not track times on street tires.

You shouldn't have to think twice about this....terminator,hands down. Has all the power you need,it's bullet proof and it's beautiful.

I'm in agreement with them I also love my 06 but a terminator will be fast out of the box. Muscle mustangs and fast ford got a 3v into the 12's with mild bolt ons a tune and slicks so it wouldn't be hard. Mine is going high 11's now but I have put quite a but if money into it. I'm sure you will be happy with either one though it's a mustang after all!

Have you considered a 2011+? it wouldn't be that much more than the termi... Mine was under 30k new

If your planning on modding the termi is the way to go, they are built to take a beating

The 05 will feel sluggish compared to a 2011 and getting 12s on street tires will take some boost. Radials could get you there with bolt ons but that's a totally different method of going fast

Go for the termi. How many people can say they've owned one? Lol. Plus your power range is much better off the bat.

+1 to the terminator... You may be able to get a 05-09gt, but in the end, the terminator is a special edition and more rare. Just not another gt

Ha, but in the end... Let's say you built your car to be faster than a boss 302, all you have is a modified gt... AND he will retain more resale value than modifying a gt.

Terminator convertible ftw. All the style with the power to back it.

Just build up a good tire budget, you'll need it.

True and my gt would stomp a boss but if your like me and Don't ever plan on selling your baby resale value has no value

Yeah... But. You go somewhere and say,"I have a fast GT" or "I have a limited production Boss 302, or terminator" the second just sounds better...

Re: Just curious on potential

stock/stock terminator is faster, dollar for dollar its FAR superior in modifications that gain horse power, it has more potential by FAR, and has a better resale value.

2,000 invested will take you from the stock 425/425 (its underrated from the factory 90% of the time) to 575-600hp (360/360 stock to 450-475)... a GT simply CAN NOT touch that.... and the supercharger whine is very nice

the only real thing you should be asking is if you want the 99-04 body style or 05-09 and if you do go 3v if 450rwhp is enough cuz thats all you are gonna get (and you have to spend 6k+ to supercharge it to get there) without building the motor...

and 03/04 cobra can take 600-650rwhp for a daily driver but most think 500-550 is the sweet spot.
