CAMS????

Have heard a few of the 05-09 stangs with the Ford Racing hotrod cams and the ones that Comp Cams make. They sound great and I've gotta have them. Just not sure what I will getting into installing them. These modular engines are kinda new to me. Any thoughts?

Do it! You won't regret it. Now that I've had my first cammed car I'll never go back.

Re: CAMS????

check around and see what a GOOD local shop charges... research the shop and check their complaint listings as well.

Re: CAMS????

Hey guys, throw a little of that Info at me by message, I don't really have any Info on it, but it does raise my curiosity. Ford Racing Hotrod Cam, I never knew. I did a little stuff to my GT, but had not gone into that thought process of a CAM, I'm also planning on doing a Super Charger also.

I would get them installed by an experienced tech, you also will need a tune, dyno is the way to go if there is one near by you

Check out my car. http://www.powerpassion.nl/mustang/m.../2005/102_0407

The Roush engine is a 302 stroked last dyno was done at 476 hp truly aspirated. The nice addition was the com CAMS- stage 3, with X pypes, and Goerlich Xleroator , Borla Headers, 4:15 gears many other additions...

Is that price including the purchase of cams? I can do a hot rods swap in less than two hours. So that would be a rate of 300/hr. 0.o

---------- Post added at 04:45 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:42 PM ----------

I would assume it should take the avg person 4-5 hours though. Taking their time or never really dealt with mechanical work though.

Southern Stang, there are many performance shops that install CAMS around the country, the price per hour depends on locations, I know a few that haven standard pricing for installation. There is a place in western PA that will instal CAMS for $350 with a full install not including parts. the Dyno charge also varies. usually wound $100 per hour. Did that help answer your question? This is the location I am speaking of for the $350 install. http://www.rodeheavershotrod.com/

I do understand that. As I understand the shop has to make a profit as well to stay in business. Now if that price included a dyno tune I say that's one heck of a deal! Some cams require changing of the valve springs too which can tack on time and of course more money. But I was basing my pricing/time wise on most NSR cams.
Either way, the OP is going to love being cammed. I promise.

The price to in stall the CAMS is right $350... If you do the tuning yourself ... With a complete dynotune the cost is extra around $350

No that was just install. The cans are like 750 alone (at leas where I was looking). I don't have them yet so I haven't really shopped around too much.

The price of CAMS range from $750-$575 depending on which company you purchase them from. Blow by Blow, Crane, Com, Ford etc...

Re: CAMS????

That extra cost, is why I took off the CAM replacement, too much extra cost just for that, I'll put that money somewhere else.
