slower track time after mods?!?

So I ran a 14.1 in July when I was pretty much none stock. The only thing I had was the k&n cai. Since then put in 4.10 gears, cut my cats and put flowmaster 40's. I ran 2 14.4's and managed to get back to a 14.1 on my last run. If I open up my exhaust without opening up my intake can I lose power? I had street tires both times too.

I don't have the slips on front of me but the were both in the 2's. I know that tires will help a lot but I was thinking with just the gears I could at least break 13's. Wasn't expecting to do worse.

Mid 2 seconds to be more specific.

Well the next mods on my list are jlt 110mm cai, 62mm tb, Ford racing intake manifold, and motion delete plates. I don't think the k&n cai is all that great.

Oh and of course some drag tires.

Re: slower track time after mods?!?

Gears will slow you down, but they make you quicker. You need tires and practice to take advantage of the gears. get a 26" tall drag radial, and I would not do any more mods until you get good enough to run 13.2's. And the exhaust mods don't do anything.

The TB and intake are a waste of money, You need ported heads and cams for those mods. get a good used C&L racer 95mm,($125.00) and a tune.

I'd like to see the whole slip, for both of them. There's a lot of useful information in the 60' times and mph numbers.

Well when I get home I'll look for the most recent one. I wasn't too thrilled with it so I may have thrown it away. LOL. But if I have it I'll post it. I have the old one for sure.

Re: slower track time after mods?!?

YOU 60ft better. But also lost mph on your 1/8 and 1/4. Opening the cats up may have hurt you more then help. Not enough back pressure. Also the gears are great and should help you gain.

My question also is did you shift different? Hard shift first run and then do more granny shifting on the next outing? Also the weather conditions are different so that is also hard to say what the difference is.

Weather was about the same. I had a short throw shifter on the second outing so I felt like I was shifting faster.
