As Dion 11197 stated it's the software most tuners use.

And because everyone's got it, the tunes are already researched and proven.... Most companies can e-mail you a tune for your current mods that's been tested and dyno proven on cars with the same mods.

Free tunes for life worth it? or is going to a shop a better idea because of the dyno?

Honestly, unless you're doing a lot of serious modification, the free tunes for life is pretty solid. The dyno is expensive and it costs a lot every time you want to retune. Id say get the bama tunes for life and if you go overboard with mods then get a dyno tune.

I like going to the dyno myself. You get your actual numbers and they can normally pull a little more horsepower out with a custom tune then an out of the box tune. But, as was mentioned earlier... Also depends on how many mods you have. The more mods, the more I'd recommend a custom tune.

I'll throw in my vote for the SCT as well- very very easy to use- Free tunes for life from Bama- which is a huge deal if you're going to mod, and you get American Muscle's awesome service
I ordered mine and it was on my porch the next day- I'm running the 93 race tune, and even my Performance shop, who would have loved to have gotten my tuning dollars, admitted Bama does a great job.

Don't know much about the tuners but I have a predator. Make a pretty big difference from stock to the custom programs that are in it.

I have both, SCT and Diablosport Preditor. Run SCT on Mustang and Preditor on Wife's Camaro. Both are good, no problems with either.

Re: What tuner is best

I have an SCT and I like it. Companies like American Muscle, Brenspeed and Steeda custom tune via SCT, so it's good to get what seems to be the standard among those big names, especially if you're doing bolt-on mods that can be tuned via email.

However, if it's custom dyno tuning that you reach for, I would suggest you to visit your local dyno shop to ask them what they use.

For exemple, where I live, every tuner dyno tune with DiabloSport.

For your information, I would also suggest you to read the article named "Mustang Tuner Differences" on American Muscle website. Here is the link:

Re: What tuner is best

It was a pleasure!

Keep in mind both units are good. Your choice should depend on your goals and on your email tuner or maybe on the dyno tuners in your area.

It's probably the easiest way to custom tune a Mustang.

First, you need to have a tuner, a device like an SCT or a DiabloSport. If you don't, than it's even easier, because if you buy from American Muscle or Brenspeed, you will order your free custom tunes at the same time you order your tuner. BTW, other companies may do the same thing.

The seller will ask you simple questions about your car, your mods and how you want your car to react. Some companies will send you the tuner preloaded with your custom tunes (which are not the one size fits all tunes from the manufacturer of the tuner).

It's also possible that the company you deal with send you your custom tune as an email file. That's probably going to be the case if you purchase the custom tunes after you already have a tuner. So, if that's the case, you should install the software that came with your tuner on your personal computer. You then plug your tuner into your computer to upload your custom tunes into the tuner. Once it's done, plug the tuner into your car, then upload the custom tune of your choice into your Mustang's cumputer. That's about it!

By the way, the software and the tuner are not complicate to operate.

No problem!

In fact, this method of tuning is one of the pros of EFI (Electronic Fuel Injection).

Is there a way to use one sct tuner on two cars? obviously with different tunes. lets say I have fusion and a mustang it would save me money to use one tuner for both cars.

Re: What tuner is best

The tuner is locked to the VIN of the first car you plug it into. So no you can't.

Re: What tuner is best

The first thing you should do is call your local shops and find out what they're tuning with, no "tuner" device surpasses the other its just what your available to work with in your area. Also emails tunes are highly inefficient, theyre basing the tune off someone elses car not yours and this can lead to issues. Remote tuning is an option or dyno tuning is the best
