Obnoxious HP question

I swore I'd never do this, because I hate it when people ask this on these boards. I promise it's the only time, please forgive me, and I'd appreciate a decent ballpark estimate. I have an 05 GT, Pype bomb axle backs, JLT CAI and 93 Bama race tune are the main Perf mods. Around what sorta HP do you think I'm at/near/around.

(zipping my flame suit, ducking and running)
Thanks

Re: Obnoxious HP question

i wouldnt expect any gains from just the axle back, and prob 15-25 with the tune and intake

Re: Obnoxious HP question

You are probably close to 280whp with those mods.

Re: Obnoxious HP question

Bama's race tunes are pretty aggressive. I would probably guess you're more likely around 290hp/320tq at the wheels +/- 2 or 3. Their race tune + intake combos get you pretty close to the factory crank specs at the wheels.

Re: Obnoxious HP question

LTs,high flows with H,axel backs,93 Bama race tune and CAI netted me 298whp on the 07.

That's about right. You don't get a lot out of headers on a N/A car with basic bolt ons. Most exhaust work on a bolt-on car is for sound/visual only. I wouldn't expect more than an additional 5-10hp out of headers & highflow mid pipe...

All the power increase is in the aggressive tune...You don't start seeing additional benefit to the exhaust work until you start making a lot of power thru some type of power adder or running a built high compression motor.

FYI. . .See video toward middle/bottom of page with AM dyno info. AM's number are generally pretty accurate.

Re: Obnoxious HP question

i highly recommend a dyno session just to get the a/f checked and you will know the hp/tq then.

is it worth taking the risk on a bad tune and blowing up the car? generally bama tunes are good but its so cheap to check its a bad idea not to.

Re: Obnoxious HP question

If you invest in a dyno session, keep in mind that the numbers you'll get will be different whether you run on a Dynojet or a Mustang dyno. Dynojet gives higher numbers.

Re: Obnoxious HP question

Dyno tuning for a CAI and axelbacks is a complete waste of money IMO.

I kinda thought so too. It's a chunk of change to satisfy my curiosity..... The answers I'm getting are right on as far as what I had guessed. And really, for my purposes, and what I'm trying to achieve with my car (a very clean, fun to drive, power when I need it but not so much that I get into trouble- daily driver street car that looks and sounds great) a dyno would be silly. I could spend that money on more tangible things for the car. I'll never be drag racing, you know? If I could save the money I'd love to do ported heads, cams, tb and intake manifolds... And get some 4.10s on there. if I could get that stuff done it would justify putting it on the dyno.....but until then I'll have to be happy with educated guessing. And I do appreciate all the informed speculation- thanks y'all

U can get just a run on a dyno to see what ur car is putting down... U don't have to get it tuned... Where I live it's only $80 some times less if the shop is having a special

After I had my Long tubes and midpipe put on I could feel it pull much harder over 4k rpm. I dont know my HP but it did make a difference.

You will notice a Instant change, when you change your Gears on your Automatic. I did the 4.10 gears on mine and it's fantastic. Make sure you get it "Tuned" when you do it.

Re: Obnoxious HP question

Slap on your CAI,tune and axelbacks......then just go do a dyno run,it's inexpensive and they can check your A/F at the same time.
