Re: Mgw vs tri ax

It's ultimately personal opinion. Most people will probably say MGW as they are of the top quality, but either of those make really good replacements over the stock shifter...

I preferred the feel of the Roush shifter myself.

Re: Mgw vs tri ax

my issue is steeda tri-ax is harder to reach (mgw has the angled handle and its far superior in this department.. I sat in another 04 cobra with a steed and 1st in it was 5th in mine (well reverse but you get the same thing)

mgw has less noise, I think the steeda is stiffer though

consider rousch's shifter...it was racers choice at our track, we had about 5 drag racers hop between all our s197's and everybody chose the rousch... just my 2 cents

Re: Mgw vs tri ax

^^ I highly doubt it, MGW is the best put together and best overall kit on the market. I would run one in any one I had, just a very solid item.

Re: Mgw vs tri ax

The biggest advantage to the MGW is the adjustability.

I was going w mgw based on 0 bad reviews and steeda has mixed reviews ... So at that point it's a no brainer...

I too beleive that MGW makes a top notch quality shifter. I chose a Hurst billet shifter for a couple of reasons.
The Hurst looks better, less expensive, and has longer handle to make shifting easier.

Just one guys opinion

How much vibration and noise do you have in it versus stock?

I don't have any more noise or vibration over stock. Feels much more solid, you'll see why when you take out the stock shifter & look at them side by side.

To clarify, I got the car used and I'm not sure if it's hurst... It's got the hurst arm

But when I dig down in there it Looks stock.... It feels more solid than stock, can't wiggle the arm while in gear... But it's real clunky, sometimes hard to get into reverse... However it does not seem to be a short throw from gear to gear... And it's real clunky... It good be a sport sifter I guess...

Looks like a Hurst, but maybe an older preBillet model.

Sounds like a hurst arm and stock shifter. Stock shifter sucks from 2-3 and sometimes reverse.

Clunky, not that short of a throw, high vibration, but I'm not sure it's a true hurst short throw
