CAI tune to stock?

Ok, so a CAI requiring a tune is better than one that is a stock only replacement. Makes sense since the tune required CAI's increase flow so much that it would cause a lean situation.

Ok, so when you tune your car you get a copy of the stock tune. Everyone states that you need to return you tune to stock before taking it in for service. Makes sense, the dealer is working with known parameters.

Now the Question: If you have a tune required CAI, how do you return it to stock for service? Is this necessary to return to stock tune or is it a stupid question?

You don't have to return your tune to stock to get it serviced!.. When you get your car serviced all they are doing is basically check for trouble codes!..

I asked a service tech about if Ford installed a Ford CAI (which requires tune). He said it affects only the intake and what it may damage, but not the whole engine warranty. Pretty screwy. I guess it could only affect the TB on intake manifold somehow.

The stock tune is copied from your control unit to the tuner the first time you use the tuner. It is stored there in the tuner. You can copy this stock tune to a file on your PC if you want to.

If you are going to take your var to the dealer to do any warranty service on the engine then , you mifht as well return it to stock about 100 miles before hand. Sometimes if you go to the dealer and talk with the the service manager you might be able to work out how he wants the car when you bring it in.

Ps if you do return to sctock, then you must also put the original air intake back on

Funny thing about all this is that the car records everything!.. It's not going to matter if you return it to stock or not!..

They can still see that the tunes have been tampered with in their files.
