Re: tune + emissions

You should pass jut fine with the tune & intake; however, you will NOT pass with an off-road crossover pipe...Keep in mind most states that do emissions testing use both the visual test to make sure the cats aren't removed along with either a "tail-pipe sniffer" test or an ODBII port test.

With an offroad crossover pipe, you will fail the visual test & will likely fail the ODBII test. I am not sure exactly how the program is written for the ODBII test, but I do know that it's a series of diagnostic tests that check for any abnormalities in the vehicle's ECU/programming. You will throw a code or two with the cats removed & 02's turned off when they run the program which means you'll fail.

Re: tune + emissions

i took mine through inspection and it failed with the tune , the ecm comes up all systems "not ready ": i called the the shop that tuned the car and they said it should have passed , ( ya ok )
and i bought the car that way ,with the CAI ,so i didnt have a stock airbox with the car , it wouldnt run with the CAI setting it back to stock , i had to go on ebay and find a stock airbox ,install that and then set everything back to stock to pass ...............

You're pretty lucky that your inspection is up ever 4 years. Every January I have to take time out of my day to put the cats back on my car and then take them right back off. :/
But it is so worth it every time I hear that V8 roar!!

Re: tune + emissions

i guess it depends if they test the emissions or just check for lights etc~ depends on how deep the test goes in your area.
